Awesome, more offshore drilling. Can’t wait for a spill. They can barely maintain their own oil infrastructure.

Maduro already has said he wants oil exploration there. He’s not Chavez. What current plans does the US have to build bases in the region?

[–] CommieElon@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago (5 children)

It’s not good and the US was just starting to relieve sanctions. Maduro just wants that oil in a biodiversity country. It sucks

The US literally just gave Venezuela sanctions relief…. why blow up any progress in less than a month? Maybe Guyana needs some freedom like Iraq did.

I can’t defend this whatsoever.

Yeah, I think I can get rid of them in about 5 years. I left them at 20,000 hoping the Supreme Court would give us something. I was going to use my loan payments toward buying a new car. It was kinda crushing when the Supreme Court made their decision.

Unless it’s a service animal, I don’t like when dogs are in public buildings. Tired of trying to buy food at the grocery store but having to dodge dogs and avoid stepping over their leashes. This anger is mostly directed at their owners as I’m skittish around dogs I don’t know.

“You can milk anything with nipples.”

“I have nipples greg. Can you milk me?”

All of the political, fictional, media, and societal forces in this country fantasizes this generation of men from the era. They were tough, stoic, built skyscrapers, fought and died in wars, dressed in suits, and they did things their own way. I always have an image of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack in my head of this type of man. Candace Owens' "Bring back manly man" tweet on a photo of Harry Styles in a dress underscores the society's mourning the loss of masculine men.

I never met my grandfather but from all the stories I've heard of him he was the typical man of his era. Grew up in the 30s, was a junkman, joined the Army, worked a union trade job, came home from work and read his newspaper. He didn't make dinner (except for grilling steaks with his bare hands). He physically fought my grandma and engaged corporal punishment with my uncles and aunt. My mom says she was scared of him for a long time. He never traveled or did anything with his children. Essentially, he worked and came home and didn't do any domestic activities. You look at photos of him and he looked like a good looking Italian guy in a Martin Scorsese movie. A "man's man".

Learning about his bad tendencies and at first its hard to see a tragedy. The tragedy is near the end of his life he expressed regret and remorse. His life under capitalism and patriarchal norms crushed his soul. It was only around his old age and after his retirement when he started to mellow out and become something more. The last time he talked to my uncle he told him "I'm sorry for not being there and talking to you." He loved to visit my mom and dad and my mom said she loved to talk to him even though she was previously scared of him. He traveled to Hawaii the year before he died and he absolutely loved it. When they got back he asked my grandma "when's the next trip?" When he was older, every day he walked their cat on a leash. Even with all of their troubles throughout their marriage, my granparents loved each other. On their last day together they made love, he told my grandma he loved her, and he went to bet on the horses.

He also hated some aspects of his society. He hated suits, hated the Army and was dishonorably discharged for refusing an order, and he hated Reagan and trickle down economics. Underneath his manly exterior there was something more there and his remorse at not being a better person showed toward the end of his life. It was only after he wasn't being crushed by a manual labor job and living just with my grandma was he able to start to explore the world and open up to his kids. So when I think of him now I see him as a victim of Capitalism and patriarchal norms of our society.

I don't know, this is kinda a rough draft of my thoughts about someone I never met but wish I could have.

Isn’t a purge something tankies would do? Isn’t that something Stalin is kinda famous for?

I used to buy fashionable, expensive clothes. Like the kind that has a drop and you have to buy it quickly. I still like them but I’m unsure of how to get into it again.

My family were refugees but were from the western portion of the country. They emigrated in the 50s and according to my aunt, they were essentially starving. I wish I knew a little bit more about their status in the Soviet Union. We actually found their refugee application papers on a Nazi persecution site recently. My grandparents met in a Nazi labor camp.

Which is why I’m sickened by the Ukrainian government being overrun by neo Nazis at some of the highest levels. Not even two generations away from being enslaved by Nazi Germany.

I’m also not trying to justify any actions the Ukrainian govt. has down toward regions in the east and I’m sorry if it seemed that way. And thank you for pointing out the crimes the Ukrainian government has done toward the eastern regions.

I feel like many users are excited about the prospect of the United States eating shit in this geopolitical struggle. We should be against US imperialism full stop. However, the prospect of the US failing is making some users too giddy about Ukraine failing as well since the two are tied together right now.

I’ve seen comments with the crab dance about Ukraine, the Ukrainian flag burning emoji when the situation is not even applied to Ukrainian neo Nazis, blatantly saying Kievan Rus was actually Russia when that’s not even the historical consensus.

The United States is using Ukraine as a pawn and forcing Ukraine to take a harsh stance against Russia. It’s not a sovereign nation and Putin does not care about the well-being of Ukrainian citizens. Does Russia have legitimate gripes against NATO? Absolutely but we’re teetering on Putin apologia and sharing RT news uncritically.

Idk mods, it would be nice to have a reminder that the working class of Ukraine suffers and talk of “Ukraine ending” should be frowned upon.

Edit: I’m sorry for not including I’m not living in Ukraine but my family came to the US as refugees.

I feel like a guy. I like to do “manly” stuff. Boxing, weightlifting, sports, etc. However, the concept of “being a man” sounds kinda far fetched to me. Like it’s an abstract concept that is impossible to achieve. Is a man supposed to be stoic or brash? Dress up in a tie and suit or wear carhartt and have a beard? Then they’re are guys who dress up or wear makeup. Gender related expressions are so constructed that I realized while I feel like a guy I wouldn’t mind if someone referred to me as they.

I want to be able to paint my nails without feeling embarrassed but then go to a boxing gym and spar. I don’t know if it’s a political rejection of masculinity but just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

Hello all,

In my efforts to not be a Brocialist, I still have some unlearning to do. Whenever my dad and I talk about bad bosses he always says “the worst bosses I’ve ever had were white females and the best were black females.” I’ve heard this so many times I feel like it has influenced some of my thinking. It’s something I may need to deconstruct.

Anyways, my girlfriend and I work at the same place and we both have agreed our current boss, a white female, is the worst boss we’ve ever had. My girlfriend also said “my other terrible boss was a white female so I think you’re dad is onto something. I wonder why.” I responded stupidly with “I think it’s white feminism.” She got really mad and said “how can you paint feminism as broadly as that?” I said “there are other strains of feminism”

I admit I shouldn’t have used “white feminism” but instead “mainstream liberal feminism”. The conversation ended there and I wasn’t able to expand on why Liberal Feminism doesn’t prevent white females from being bad bosses. Liberal feminism doesn’t aim to deconstruct intersectional issues of social justice namely racism, class hierarchy, and imperialism. Mainstream feminism is primarily propelled by and consumed by white females which has taught them to, and borrowing from Angela Davis, “push through the glass ceiling” where they can be a girl boss and not directly confront their position of power specifically class and white supremacy.

White females have grown up relatively privileged because they have rolled around in the blood money that the wealth of imperialism and capitalism have brought them. I know the long history of oppression they have endured and I don’t want to skirt over it but in comparison to BIPOC they’re better off and have profited from our system. Combine their privilege with the ideology of Liberal feminism which has told them to integrate and take the reins over an exploitative system so when they become bosses it can influence them to be very exploitative.

Help me learn here!

TLDR: I said white feminism may have influenced white females to be bad bosses. Girlfriend got mad. Mainstream Liberal Feminism tells white females to integrate and control an exploitive system. When white females succeed, their background of privilege and liberal strand of feminism may be a reason why they can be really bad bosses.

We all know the white guys who call themselves history buffs but only have a limited knowledge of WWII which is based on history channel documentaries.

Sometimes I wish I was veteran so I can shit all over these people. I hope any Chapo vets can do the same for me.
