Always interesting none of these articles mention “Frances the farmer”? Given its blatant lyrics and even the song title calling attention to its themes just seems like a gimme.

“Don’t be rocking up to our shores looking like a snack” - Iceland, allegedly.

If this is accurate—and I do not know that it is—it would constitute one of the gravest violations of journalist ethics in presidential debate history. If true, multiple senior people at @abc

If indeed this turns out to be true, which is looking increasingly likely,

Right, so all you blokes (though they can hardly be called that), Cruz, Musk and Ackerman. You’ll all be resigning when this comes out as bullshit right? Since ethics and integrity are super important right? How can your constituents or shareholders have any faith in you if you don’t? If them (ABC and Harris) doing this is such a grave violation; your all but reporting it as fact should be nearly the same level.

Also, just super love Cruz, truly dedicated to swallowing Trumps balls to the end. If ethics are a big problem we should be hearing Cruz complaining about Trump lying 33 times during the debate.

Oh what’s that, we don’t hear anything? Ah well, Cruz’ mouth is probably full, give Donny a minute or two.

While SVU and Wolf Dick in general seems very favourable to police image I could swear the ‘facts’ the get dropped about SA in that show was super eye opening to young me. Also every other episode Liv and Ell are constantly checking people who degrade or spout misinfo about victims (like SA victims who were sex workers, male SA victims etc).

Also by ‘woke’ standards, one of the leads is a woman, so it failed the woke test since its inception.

And I’m not under NDA. I have signed no contracts, made no verbal agreements; I haven’t even clicked through a EULA.  This message does pop up when I launch Deadlock, but I didn’t click OK; instead, I hit the Escape key and watched it disappear.

I’m not a lawyer but I sure hope the writer of this checked with a lawyer before posting because that does not sound right.

Edit: Thank you Vodulas for pointing out this update appended to the article.

Update, August 12th: Turns out Valve was not fine with me trying Deadlock with friends; I’ve been banned from matchmaking! Oh well. Please feel free to make fun of me in the comments!

“People are too sensitive today” types are deliberately missing the point. Online is pretty much the only place where you can get away with spouting slurs or psycho shit. You wouldn’t do it in public or get away with most of it in public.

More to the point it's just tiring having these types come into a lobby. They generally don’t (or can’t) play properly or fuck around until someone calls them out. They then start on that person or spamming the N word.

More often than not it feels like they try to frame it as “oh ho, people can’t handle my casual use of slurs, snowflakes”. When more likely is if you’re talking and behaving like that generally it means you’re obnoxious and disruptive to the game.

The bear scenario is the perfect division inducing shitstorm.

It’s understandable what the memes portrays the danger that women face, daily. The fact that they frequently don’t feel comfortable or even just basic safety is definitely valid and worth discussion.

However, the bear vs man thing was just the worst vehicle to induce that discussion. On one side men who may not be the most well informed about women issues; will get immediately defensive at being compared to a large animal known for tearing people apart and eating them alive.

The members of the other side who see all the angry men getting defensive at them for expressing this view and think it’s purely because they aren’t empathetic to these issue, they “hate” women or they’re marginalising what is a real and daily danger.

Of course there are actual trolls, toxic arseholes and people who have 0 interest actual discourse or understanding but fuck them, I agree ban em.

It was never going to end in a productive, calm or rational discussion and frankly I think tarring the entire of lemmy for it is equally as unproductive. I’ve seen plenty of people initially aggressive to the meme, come around. I’ve seen more and more people make light jokes about the same meme without the accusatory tone. If you want discourse theres space to do so; it just has to be done better(imo). Preferably without snark or accusatory tones.

If I can see it and I view it as bad content it’s getting downvoted. Especially since such content usually is inflammatory political post from niche politic subs that have no problem espousing their politics in a “either you agree with us 100% or you're wrong/the enemy”. The rest of the time it’s weird fetish porn.

I browse by all because it’s a good way to see communities/content I wouldn’t otherwise see if I stuck to a curated community list. Not being part of the community doesn’t matter because I’m still seeing the content and still behaving consistent with using the downvote button to collectively filter it out.

I think a better option is these communities opting for the post not to get sent to all. Which won’t happen because a lot of previously mentioned post; the target isn’t the community who already likely agree with them, it’s everyone else. Better yet these communities could implement rules against post that are clearly inflammatory/flaming but then where would they grandstand?

How and why is this so relatable? Literally since I started on lemmy there have been a bunch of FOSS projects lead or solely developed by trans coders ( pun semi intended).

More recently one of the lemmy apps I started on was as well and it looks pretty decently written. Hope they’re doing well wherever they are now.

The same reason countless studios have destroyed successful IPs (like EA). Sure it’s profitable but it could be MORE profitable. Sales were up last year? Cool story, have sales improved over that this year though??

Why do you have multiple post of breakthroughs in nuclear tech with negative criticism?

In fact multiple posts appearing to concern troll renewables with statements like “coal is here to stay”??

Everyone needs to stop posting what they like because I don’t like it! Absolute child.
