Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The acquisition of a 25-square-meter flat has provided Gong with a sense of liberation, as she now spends two days a week at the property, enjoying solitude.

"Finance company owner purchases second home to get away from family"

There is the updated title. Not just a mother, a mother that owns their own company and wants to get away from family obligations. Do what you have to do to find peace, but this title does not express what is actually happening.

Mother seems more relevant when getting away from the family is what the article is all about. It's quite neutral headline as they should be instead of loaded ones like the one you seem to be suggesting with the underlying anti-rich/-capitalist spin.

yeah, leave the rich alone, they might get their feelings hurt. :'c

Journalism should strive to be unbiased.

[–] tb_@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How can journalism be unbiased when the world is inequal.

[–] Ajen@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

They can't, they're flawed just like the rest of us. But they should strive to be unbiased.

Imagine if everyone could just buy a first permanent shelter.

To like, start a family in the first place.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Well the best move would be to stop having kids, as we live in an economic and ecological disaster.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Well the best move would be to prevent ecological and economic disaster 50 years ago when we knew it was gonna happen and why.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

No, that's in the past and no one can change that.

You can change where the gurt go, and what the gurt do, right now

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh, we meant a current course of action by the affected and powerless, yeah, give up all dreams and rights and watch it burn I guess

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I suggested a current course of action for the affected, which provides them immediate and lasting power over their futures.

We are currently already watching it burn, and kids only speed that along.

Possessing property is not a right, unfortunately.

You are powerless insomuch as you position yourself to be overpowered by the world and the country you live in. Staying powerful comes from staying flexible.

Reminds me of all of those “I paid off my student loans by the time I graduated” (by just having rich parents and living with them and spending their money

[–] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 31 points 2 years ago

And every other parent who can't afford a home, let alone a second just because one, is seething.

[–] bbigras@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 years ago

Where I'm from, a $69K flat is a pipe dream.

[–] zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 2 years ago

Where's a 69k flat?

[–] ChihuahuaOfDoom@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's a mood if I've ever seen one.

[–] sentient_loom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 years ago

Better described by a tax bracket than a mood.

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why can't she just pay a live in nanny to deal with her kids. Like all the other rich bitches do when they can't be bothered to relate to their kids.

My mom didn't take a day off for 25 fucking years. When I became an adult and realized how much work to just be an adult with no responsibilities.... I have no idea how she did three kids as a single mom. Between work, cooking, cleaning, making us do our homework and everything else. I really wonder if she ever got a full night of sleep.

And this rich bitch buys an entire extra flat. Fuck this.

[–] eatthecake@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Imagine if your mom could have had some time and space for herself instead of working constantly and never getting a full nights sleep. What a bitch she would have been.

Fuck you. You clearly did get the point and have raised 3 kids by yourself . My mom could not have the space, because we had no money and my dad wasn't a thing. Maybe if there was more equity she could have. Instead the money is being collected at the top. So the wealthy don't have to be inconvenienced by life.

Oh and don't fuck call my mom a bitch. Go fuck of.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 2 years ago

Never go full Karen.

[–] NoSuchAgency@reddthat.com -3 points 2 years ago

Some would call that abandonment
