I'm not through the whole video yet but I think you can cut the tech from the title. That's just YouTube or even social media in general. Ego, dogmatism and cult of personality.

Yeah, tech side is irrelevant.

Many people like worshiping prominent figures, and looking up to them for inspiration and socializing with other fans about their adoration and displaying signs of support for them. It's nothing unique to tech.

Kardashians, Trump, Rogan, etc. List is endless in all spaces.

1.5x speed is your friend, but (from memory) essentially it's a video where he:

  • Criticises Linus/LTT/LMG for their handling of the initial review/problem and what happened with the female employee. Also points out their incompetence, fuck ups, and Linus not reacting as he should.

  • Criticises Gamers Nexus/Steve for the way he presents opinions as facts, nitpicking, how youtube channels should managed/updated, and his "gatekeeping". Also mentions the comments about LMG hiring people from the industry and how they leave out important information about the people being hired as it doesn't fit the narrative.

  • Criticises the community for being fanbois, sending threats, asking for Linus "head", lack of understanding how content creation works and the difference between small and larger operations, the reaction to some of the official replies. Also, the difference between one person (eg: Linus) and the organisation (eg: LMG/LTT) and how Linus (or any "main" dude) probably doesn't read or reply to most of emails.

  • Goes into content production from a point of view of a content producer (written and now video), the logistics of that and how it can be hard to fix mistakes, especially when different teams and people (with different areas of knowledge) are involved.

Etc. I'm probably forgetting a few things, so watching the video and reading comments there is probably a good idea.

I think is way too long and YouTubetranscript is the way to go considering there's been endless videos from youtubers covering the topic trying to take advantage of the search algorithm over the past several days.

So this topic has already been rehashed over and over again from various talking heads on YouTube. At this point unless it's someone who has had direct involvement with LTT and has some new revelation to add it's a pass.

His might be the most level-headed take on this whole drama. Disinterested and dispassionate, just stating facts as facts, and opinions as opinions.

Honestly, some of the other "players" in this saga could learn a thing or two.

(Now perhaps 94 minutes is a little much, but that's a separate issue)

I also have to say it's mildly ironic to criticise the "late" posting of the video, when one of the points raised is that of "post quickly / dubious accuracy" first-mover advantage content creation.

Kind of a hard sell is what I'm saying for someone to post some video that is 1.5 hours long without a huge selling point behind why this video should be watched in its entirety and what makes it so special over all the other ones. Especially if they dont even know the channel to begin with so is yet another random youtuber that's done a LTT topic video.

It's hard not to have a dismissive attitude towards a LTT topic video at this point when so many videos have been playing off the algorithm to draw views. Had seen one couple days ago where the channel said they got half their current subs after a LTT topic video.

Thanks. Eventually got to see all of it. I see some of his points but he came across as Linus defender or just calling out GM. Sounded like apologist for Linus.

Basically 90% of you tube

An hour and a half? Seriously, this doesn't need an hour and a half to explain. LTT has always been low quality, fast production content for people new to computers, gaming, and electronics. It serves a purpose for the budding enthusiast. Eventually you learn enough to realize what LTT is and that you've grown out of it. I just syped that in 30 seconds.

It's too long for ChatGPT to process. I tried to break it up into a bunch of chunks to see if I could get it to condense it at all, but the final output was too long for Kbin to allow me to post, as there's a 5000 character limit here. Sorry, I tried. :(

You can reply to your own comments, that way you can split the text in chunks that Kbin can handle.
