FYI the magazine is Wired, The Wire is a TV show about the war on drugs in Baltimore. Had me confused there.

The Wired, a magazine about the war on drugs

Wire, a TV show about scrappy cracker hackers in Baltimore

Yeah well that’s just like your opinion, man

Jesus Christ that's a long article I'm not gonna read; what a dickhead. Yet another American who feels that collective punishment against one of the world's most sanctioned peoples is appropriate.

Hey, P4x, aka Alejandro Caceres, 38-year-old Colombian-American cybersecurity entrepreneur, you're a fucking idiot. Read The Jakarta Method. Listen to the Blowback Podcast.

Caceres and the Pentagon contractor that partnered with him—whose founder agreed to talk to WIRED on the condition we not name him or his company—spent much of the past two years advocating within the US government for that far-more-brazen approach to state-sponsored cyberattacks. They describe it as a special forces model: single hackers or small teams carrying out nimble, targeted digital disruptions, in contrast to the US’s traditionally slower and more bureaucratic approach to cyberwarfare.

There's no acceptable way to articulate this kind of utter stupidity and dishonesty. The guy did it for free, that's how ingrained the brain worms are dip shit!!! They don't need you, they keep an eye on you. When you do something that gets enough crypto slush money though you'll find out, there won't be a knock.

Statute of limitations is up well past for this, though I did get picked up at 17 for unrelated stuff, but back during Operation Payback (for WikiLeaks being censored*) I was deeply involved in keeping Australian ISP DNS servers and gov sites down. No idea why I never got in trouble for it, I was pretty young and just using a residential Comcast IP at times to do things that should've definitely been traceable.

* though I was also simultaneously critical of their program to entrap journalists by having them register as "insiders" for access to leaks around that time

Are you fucking kidding me? They already did this one years ago. "They hacked his hot dog stand. He took down their country's internet" one second let me go get it. Disgusting

Okay it's the same guy as two years ago. BORING. GET A LIFE OMG. lmao https://www.wired.com/story/north-korea-hacker-internet-outage/

Cracker hacker? That guy looks ethnic af and has an ethnic af name. Also, idgaf if this is a puff piece, single handedly taking down an entire country's internet for a week needs no puffing to be impressive.

[-] LesbianLiberty@hexbear.net 21 points 5 months ago

When you're Latino and work for the white supremacist US government you get the honorary cracker title.

[-] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 6 points 5 months ago

Cracker is a state of mind

[-] ProfessorOwl_PhD@hexbear.net 19 points 5 months ago

The article explains that he took down the government's public facing websites for a week, he didn't actually take down their internet.

[-] disposable_cracker@hexbear.net 10 points 5 months ago

Oh. That's much less impressive.
