I was bored and decided to browse Imgflip and I found a meme where they claim George Orwell was a socialist. Some of you probably know that Imgflip's comment section is filled with rabid reactionaries and libs who refuse to read.

I need my small doses of absolute vile reactionary toxin exposure every now and then otherwise I start believing that the internet is a really nice place to be on. 
Orwell was a, or at least claimed to be, a socialist. However he was a fancy-lad western chauvinist socialist who not only never accomplished anything for anyone, but also sold out his own comrades.
It is incredibly telling that his future dystopia far more resembles the modern American state than the Soviet Union even at the height of Stalin's paranoia, and mostly engenders a sense of misplaced 'anti-authoritarianism'. It is truly some of the best propaganda because it feels true but leads you in the completely wrong direction.
I read Animal Farm before I understood politics and 10 year old me thought it was a satire of capitalism.

Just because Orwell was a Trotskyite and a snitch doesnt mean he wasn't a socialist. Trotskyites are by definition socialists just like MLMs, Hoxhoaists or Syndicalists. And even Rosa snitched on of her rival party members to the Okhrana. Its just a matter of did you like who they snitched on or not.
Politics is not a battle between good and evil, it's a matter of getting shit done, hopefully mostly good shit ofc.
