He believed he had been doing what was right, despite the political fallout, he told the group, according to the lawmaker.

He didn't care about losing ground in swing states? He believes in genocide so much that he's willing to lose to Trump?

[–] ToxicDivinity@hexbear.net 27 points 8 months ago

"Listen jack the soul of the nation is more important than one election. And the soul of this nation craves genocide"

[–] Rolder@reddthat.com 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Pretty stupid considering that Trump would be even more gung-ho on the genocide.

[–] asteroidnova@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 months ago

Never trust the American populace to be anything but moronic. We are brainwashed by right wing fuckery that we can't fathom anything beyond "I don't like this, I'll vote for the other" when the other is worse beyond compare. We don't care. We don't understand. We don't care to understand.

[–] mctoasterson@reddthat.com 26 points 8 months ago

I mean, he has done his level best to alienate independent voters, a pretty large group that he needs to win in order to win reelection. He is trying to split the baby on the Gaza situation and he succeeded in pissing off both the left wing of his base and also a bunch of independents. But make no mistake, if he loses it isn't going to be just because of some pro-Hamas people in certain areas of Michigan. He is broadly unpopular on a number of issues. He could easily lose by a larger margin than Hillary Clinton did in 2016.

Biden should keep his campaign promise of not seeking a 2nd term

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 17 points 8 months ago

He will be a good candidate when he invades "israel" and liberates Palestine.

[–] kriz@slrpnk.net 13 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Early in the article: "Poll numbers have dropped due to his handling of Israel and Hamas"

Hmm, how could he handle this one? Stop sending weapons and $$$ to Israel?

Later in the article: "Some advisers have told him he should walk faster out of concern that his gait feeds impressions that he’s too old"

[–] absentbird@lemm.ee -1 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Does he have the authority to stop congressionally approved aid? I thought Trump got impeached for that.

[–] juicy@lemmy.today 2 points 8 months ago

He's circumvented the rules to channel millitary aid to Israel. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/06/israel-weapons-sales-loophole

[–] prole@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 months ago

People need to blame Biden

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 7 points 8 months ago (2 children)

anyone with a brian can see he has essentialy no chance of winning. 1 the electoral collage has historicaly favored the Republican Party, and does not care about the popuar vote. Second if you look at the bases, you see the Republican base still fanatical about Trump with almost no drop off, arguably he is growing, and the dem base is so un enthused its not even funny, and as usual their stratagy is to point a gun a the head of their base and say vote for me the other guy is worse. A statement that is technicaly true but functionaly they are more or less the same materialy

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 4 points 8 months ago

I disagree. I spend a lot of time reading far right forums and those guys are almost completely demoralized as of writing this comment.

They just do not hate Biden then same way they hated Obama or Hillary.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works -3 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

It's true I'm lacking a Brian. The last Brian I knew was in high school. That guy wasn't very smart about electoral politics, though. Or anything else, for that matter.

1 the electoral collage has historicaly favored the Republican Party, and does not care about the popuar vote.

The electors in the electoral college vote for the candidate they're pledged to. The Biden electors will vote for Biden. If there are more Biden electors than Trump electors, Biden wins.

[–] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

The electors in the electoral college vote for the candidate they’re pledged to.

And the 2016 election proved that was a lie. There's nothing holding the electors to the will of the people. They'll do whatever the oligarchs want, and everyone not in the club becomes an onahole.

[–] heavyboots@lemmy.ml -3 points 8 months ago (6 children)

This is such clickbait. Let’s see, on the left, a candidate who is “old” but has done a ton of good studf in the last 4 years (but not all good stuff, obviously). On the right, a guy a couple years younger but obviously suffering a touch of dementia and Russian blackmail, who has promised to be a dictator on day 1, who has made extreme efforts to hold into classified documents, who has fraud cases, racketeering cases and various other cases pending against him, etc etc.

Which to choose, the decision is so harrrrrd!

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 23 points 8 months ago

biden is not on the left in any way, shape, or form. he is also currently carrying out a genocide.

[–] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 21 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Which to choose, the decision is so harrrrrd!

Everybody on Hexbear already knows this, but it's always nice to see liberals acknowledging that they have absolutely no compunction about voting for someone actively engaging in genocide. They're not just willing to do it, they're eager, and angry at their moral superiors for refusing to do it too.

[–] ToxicDivinity@hexbear.net 20 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Why is Biden so angry and anxious then? Does he need a lexapro prescription? Is he maybe having nightmares about all the blood on his hands?

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 16 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I mean, since Brazil was able to impeach its former and now current president Lula before, maybe the U.S should have actually arrested and stopped Donald Trump from being re-elected on these charges, and in the meanwhile, replace Biden with an actual fresh mind and face like Kamala as re-election candidate... if I were Biden and were still in power during this time...

Honestly, the fact Trump isn't stopped in certainly doing so is quite damning of your system already...

[–] doubtingtammy@lemmy.ml 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The Lula conviction was bullshit/overturned. The better example would be Volsonato being barred from office because of his own Jan 6th style coup attempt

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 14 points 8 months ago

Well, my main point is, arresting and delaying a politician's return to re election like that shouldn't be a hard case if they gotta a lotta bad shit on their ass

If Lula can do it to Bolsodeputa, Biden should do it...

That being said, I'm sorry, Lula 😞

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 14 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Biden is a rightist, likely has dementia (trump also likely does but not dealing with him yet) and is too old. Also please name the good things he has done in the 4 years, because he has pretty much just sat their and done bugger all the last 4 years

Biden is running aganst a Rightist who likely has dementia and is too old

So my "choice" is a Too old rightest with dementia or a too old rightist with dementia... what a fucking choice

also dictator is a Fucking loose term if I ever heard one... I can make a case that Biden under the status quo constitutes a dictator, like please use more precice language

[–] heavyboots@lemmy.ml -2 points 8 months ago (5 children)

OK…

  • Infrastructure Law ($1BILLION for roads, rail and clean water, earmarks for public transit)
  • Inflation Reduction Act - reducing health insurance consumer costs, 10+ prescription dugs prices reduced
  • Ended the war in Afghanistan
  • Aid to Ukraine regardless of a broken congress
  • Communication Act
  • First ever Corporate Min tax
  • CHIPS Act
  • Hundreds of judge appointments
  • Lead a campaign to cap insulin at $35
  • More jobs created at this point in his presidency than any president in the last 40 years
  • First President to join workers on a picket line
  • Forgave $130+ billion in student loans
  • Record stock market.
  • Brokered MULTIPLE cease fires in The Middle East as well as between Hamas and Israel even with Hamas breaking the cease fires multiple times and also without Hamas releasing hostages as stipulated
  • Postal Service Reform Act
  • Provided over $369M to reduce greenhouse emissions by 40%/7years
  • Safer Communities Act (red flag laws against gun ownership I.e. domestic abusers)
  • Executive order against police using excessive force , emphasis on body cameras
  • Unemployment and inflation around 3% the best in the industrialized world
  • Added 13.2+ million job, a record and replacing and exceeding what was lost in COVID
  • Expanded NATO, adding countries who previously had no interest in joining, some along the Russian border have applied
[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 23 points 8 months ago

You forgot

  • Doing a genocide
[–] D61@hexbear.net 22 points 8 months ago

Executive order against police using excessive force , emphasis on body cameras

So... nothing. Qualified immunity still exists.

Ended the war in Afghanistan

okay...

Aid to Ukraine regardless of a broken congress

... and then kept up pressure that started another war to replace the one in Afghanistan...

Expanded NATO, adding countries who previously had no interest in joining, some along the Russian border have applied

...and then increasing the likelihood that Ukraine won't be the last proxy war battlefield in the Eastern part of Europe. Not to mention arming, funding, and politically supporting an active genocide against the Palestinian people.

So ole Joe traded one war for two wars... but at least its not "our" boys getting killed "over there"!! maybe-later-kiddo

First President to join workers on a picket line

Remember when he broke up the rail workers strike... and then trains full of toxic chemicals started wrecking and turning people's back yards into mini superfund sites?

[–] CooperRedArmyDog@lemmy.ml 18 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Infristructure was in the works before he was elected, and was famously kneecapped split multiple times with a promise he would only sign one if both haves come, but then left the one with the key climate and public works funding to dry

Oh wow Inflation really has been reduced... I will remember that when I am trying to understand how my grocery bill keeps going up

The Afgan treaty was signed under trump, his only imput was how to manage it, a thing that most observers would say was bad

Ukraine is a bunch of Nazis I would not call that bad

This is not the first ever tax, at best he is re instituting one but 1 point

CHIPS act is needless protectionism and sabr rattling about china

Judge apointments, while we have a supreme court that just ignore, also every president does judge apointments and he is behind target

he did not get the cap, he is the president I do not care about his campane

The US is not a comand economy sadly, he does not have anything to do with jobs

I am sorry he busted the picket of the railroad workers he cannot gain a SINGLE point on union rights

He started then he was told "Actualy would you not" and backed down nothing forgiven outside of normal workfare corses

Who fucking cares about the stock market, also president does not directly control that

He is funding and aiding the genocide in Isn'treal

Has not even made a move to fill the under full USPS board of governors, let alone doing that to put a PMG who does not have a vested intrest in destorying the USPS

That timeline is too late, not enough teeth, and he does not push back when companies say "we just cannot do it"

Red flag laws do not do anything, there is no fix to the systemic issues of gun violance, the US is not the higest rates of gun ownership in the world yet we top gun violance

Yet no decrease in police excessive force, this has been little more than lip service

Agian, president cannot control the job market

nato is an Imperalist project and bad for the world

in 4 years you named 1 good thing, congratulations

Holy shit you really wheeled this bullshit copypasta list of DemocraticUnderground-sanctioned talking points out here too? Jesus fucking christ.

Yet somehow, two years after that “fact check,” Nazi insignia still keep showing up in US corporate media photos & footage. Are they Putin propagandists, too?

[–] frauddogg@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Mmm-mmh. Nope. Your source has been paid off by multiple entities within Silicon Valley, no doubt to peddle the same crap the State Department would have its settlers believe with how frequently Facebook turns up in its funding docs. Gonna have to come with something more substantive. Still loving how you genocide collaborators can never stand and accept criticism from your countrymen, it's always gotta be Trump cultists, or Russian propagandists, or those damn dirty thieving Chinese with you honkies.

If it walks like a duck, and it talks like a duck, it's not a fuckin goose. There's too many Swastikas, Black Suns, Wolfsengels, Deaths Heads, Banderite insignias, SS bolts, and other assorted neonazi insignias in that gaggle of fascist vermin for me to believe they're not nazis, and way too many for me to think YOU'RE not a Nazi at this point with how hard you belabor your blunted point. You're really out here like "NO, NOOOOOOOOO, YOUR EYES ARE LYING TO YOU" like a typical gaslighting cracker settler, do you realize that rn?

[–] RonPaulyShore@hexbear.net 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Not to pile on you, but whether or not his domestic efforts are sufficient or at least worth holding ones nose, his treatment of Palestine is disqualifying to anyone w half a brain.

But apart from the moral question, which you evidently couldn't be bothered by, if it's such an easy choice, why is he polling so badly? It's simple: he's a bad candidate. He's polling dreadfully in what should be another easy Dem win, he's universally seen as being illequipped for the job (humiliations in Afghanistan (frankly one of few his unambiguous Ws), Ukraine, and now Palestine, with the Court, w Texas, ceding the immigration issue to Republicans, cant string two sentences together)-- why are you wasting energy caping for him? The Dems have enough time to replace him. You'd avoid these pitiable indignities.
