This truly does scream 13 year old Reddit meme doesn't it

[-] oppai420@lemmy.fmhy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Made 13 years ago on reddit, or by a 13 year old redditor?

Every 26 year old right now: yes.

r/f7u12 I remember posting some cringe worthy stuff in there! Also loved rage comics a bit too much.

[-] BigBootyBoy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

I remember in primary school I used to draw little stick figures like him

[-] cokane_88@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

It was still a thing a few months ago a dude was doing a series about his wife and married life.

[-] 0x4E4F@lemmy.fmhy.ml 10 points 1 year ago

When you realize that hell is actually where the party is at.

[-] HelixNebula@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Reminds me of my edgy teenage atheist phase :) Now I don't even want to be associated with atheists, even though I am still non-religious.

[-] Vupperware@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

When the topic comes up, I keep it short and sweet: “to me, religion is just crowd control”.

[-] Confused_Emus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I go with, "You know that nasty ass security blanket Pigpen refuses to get rid of from Charlie Brown comics?"

[-] Vupperware@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That’s a little to belittling, imo. I want to enable other people to explore different possibilities, but I don’t want to put them down for their beliefs.

Even if someone’s beliefs are harmful, confrontation and belittlement will just make them double down, methinks.

[-] Confused_Emus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

In an ideal world where people kept their beliefs to themselves, yeah that would be great. When it comes to religion in the US, I'm out of patience with these assholes. Their god isn't anymore real than the Flying Spaghetti Monster, their book isn't any less silly than all the others, and I'm tired of having to put up with their horseshit and suffer their hypocrisies in my legal system, all in the name not stepping on anybody's toes. Fuck their toes. I'm buying steel toed boots and I'm getting to stomping.

[-] norawibb@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

whats with all the atheist slander these days? religion is still literally an oppressive tool today

[-] quinnly@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Don't you see? Lame jokes at the expense of religion are JUST AS BAD as religious oppression!

(is /s necessary on this forum?)

[-] HelixNebula@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago

Mate, I literally said I am an atheist myself. If you don't know what I am talking about just google "r/atheism cringe posts".

[-] norawibb@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

i know the posts ur talking about and i know you said ur an atheist but you are still making it sound like atheism is cringy and not redditors. im proudly an atheist and its the last thing id call cringe

[-] venorathebarbarian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

But the other edgy teenage atheists grew up too. Mature, adult, atheists can be really cool to hang with! We don't talk about religion hardly ever in my friend group. The difference is that religion doesn't influence our conversation at all, which can be really nice.

I bet there's also a difference between "raised atheist" and "raised religious and rebelling". My atheist kid forgets religion exists until living in America/Texas brings it up

[-] HelixNebula@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

As I said, I am non-religious / an atheist myself. Was raised christian, but my parents were cool with me being an atheist, later becoming non-religious themselves. What I was mainly referring to are the people actively trying to make fun of - or belittling - religious people. Edit: I am all for criticizing and making fun of organized religion.

[-] explodicle@local106.com 1 points 1 year ago

Becoming an atheist is practically a one-sided experience because every adult has already had those arguments and reached a conclusion. So it's new to you and only you for a few years; you're either preaching to the choir or talking to a brick wall.

I'd still rather be edgy than the alternative!

[-] zloubida@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I often think that, even if God don't exist, I'm happy I'm Christian. Understood like I understand Christianity, it's quite freeing…

I'm the opposite. I try live a good life on earth regardless of what god is in charge. If there is a god, and they are fair, they will see that I tried my best and my reasoning. If they are not fair and just and that isnt enough, then they weren't really worth following were they?

[-] zloubida@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It's sensible :-).

But for me, Christianity is not about being good or bad. It's about being loved and knowing it.

[-] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I believe love is something we experience by giving it to others, by showing everyone that we care, from the people we choose in our lives like spouses and friends, to the lowliest and people we may be different from. That no matter who they are, they deserve our kindness. My church caused me to leave because while they preached love and kindness, they rarely practiced it. Leaders and followers alike, I would listen to them preach about God's love and then turn around and talk about how certain groups of people should be separated from them. I disagree with that. I think god's love isn't something we receive just because, I think we create it ourselves.

[-] cokane_88@lemmy.fmhy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

We need more rage memes please

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Like, "I don't eat meat, but don't you dare call me vegan."?
