Installing fails halfway through for me >w< (I am on Linux, even tried running it with Valve's version of WINE that has all the M$ redists bundled and it still fails :/)
Also it somehow manages to decompress into a bunch of temporary files from 15 gb into like over 130 gb that caused me to run out of disk space the 2nd time I tried it
I found a copy from rutracker that was of the same version but it just failed to launch for some reason* :| All the copies on the pirate sites seem to lack the latest patch? I have no idea if I did smth wrong or smth .w.
*"Please reinstall the base game" message
Edit: I found some instructions on rutracker to fix it I will try cuz I still have the files
You need to follow specific steps to install repacks on Linux. See this guide on reddit or alternative frontend.
I have tried this, not through Lutris, but when I referred to "Valve's version of WINE" I was referring to GE-Proton
Ultimately I think Fitgirl's repacks are unfortunately just not very good technically :/ I have had issues even on Windows
Also that guide is AI slop

i've had this problem. either limiting ram usage on the installer or changing proton versions around usually fixes it for me.
Installing fails halfway through for me
yeah, i have run into this issue with fitgirl on linux:( i gave a quick look and can't really find another promising torrent, even on my private tracker. sorry! i'm really hoping they put a fixed version with all DLC on steam eventually like they did with sims 2, cause im a hog and i would pay 40 bucks for that slop.
Thanks for looking anyway
I am in the process of installing some user patches :3 We see if it works
Elamgios have repacks for 1 & 2 legacy editions, 3 ultimate edition and 4 digital deluxe.
Loaded up Sims 3 last year and started a campaign(?) of a couple with only negative traits, no house and no money. If an interaction offered a negative trait option I had to take it. Each kid needed to keep two traits from each parent and then one of my own choice. Most fun I've had gaming in a really long time :)
I hopped 2/3 right to 4 and had a bad time. I need to reinstall 1 again sometime and finally play 2 (which I hear is the fan fave).
2 and 3 are pretty good, 3 was bad for a while because the DLC made the game so laggy that Maxis recommended you only play with one or two installed at a time, which kind of defeats the purpose. But it's less of a problem on modern PCs and I think most pirate versions also come with a mod that optimises the game much more easily as well.
4 is just ass, it's like 3 if they stripped away half the features and made everything just kind of slow and clunky.
2 and 3 clear the others. 3 would clear them all if it wasn't a broken mess technically
Yeahhhhhhh I like 4 but it feels a bit uhhhh.... soulless? Not to mention it got DLCified even harder than the previous games
I should try 2! There seems to be a lot more copies floating around on the internet than 3
2 is kind of the best one imo i have a soft spot for 3 but its so broken and hard to get running
2 is one of the best games of all time, unironically.
absolutely agree! it must have felt like such an earth shattering leap from 1 when it came out
