ITT: Reddit addicts talk about how shitty reddit is but they still need it for their very special reason.
News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
I loved reddit. I used it every day, all day. I didn't need friends IRL, I was talking to the world on Reddit. I did the thoughtless one liner quips that make it all the way to the top comment. I wrote insightful contributions with source citations that users love. I was a great contribution. And they dumped me. I loved reddit and they broke up with me because I wouldn't switch to their god awful new app after using the same better app for 13 years of joy. I didn't dump them, they dumped me because they are fucking morons.
I don't go back there. They dumped me and I got the message that I wasn't wanted. I am forever scorned. They ruined our relationship because they're idiots. I didn't want to leave. They wanted me to leave. Now I wish they were dead. I hope they die. I hate reddit. Fuck reddit in the ass to death times infinity.
Yikes man. It's good that you're.. Broken up?
for their very special reason.
Gay porn?
Eventually their stock price will crater if the platform hollows out any more. Companies pay a lot of money for advertisements and they measure the effectiveness of the ads. Ad platforms (usually) spend a lot of money to ensure that impressions aren’t wasted on bot traffic.
If you shed your user base while amplifying bot accounts, there’s no reason for companies to bring their ad spend to you.
Once again MBA greed and short term thinking wrecks something that had value.
Not wrecked. Cashed out. It's intentional, and they're just making as much as they can get away with, before the well dries out.
It's wrecked for the users, sure, but this is what capitalism is. Stealing and selling what others created, for profit, fucking them over.
Bingo, they know what theyre doing, theyre enshittifying.
Gotta squeeze all the blood out of the stone.
They know theyre going down, theyre deciding to make as much money as possible while doing so.
Who cares if that causes mass spread of mis and disinformation? That ain't illegal, and it is profitable.
Yeah but their terminal failure mode is making the case for Lemmy far more impactfully than its own creators ever can, so there's that
happy little accidents
Also, if they do not reign in the bots, their data becomes useless for AI companies, so these deals will stop to pay too.
In the search bar type
Author:(username)
Shows you every post and comment they've made, including "hidden" ones, with more sort options than their actual profile.
This worked for me for a little while, but then some update must have patched it up.
Not long after, a redditor dropped the following link:
Any post or message containing this link is auto-banned immediately on reddit. Even though bot infestation has been a problem for a bit, I think a lot of actual redditors set their profiles to prevent A.I. scraping
Literally used it today with no problems 🤷♂️
Thank you sir. Here is the post that got me permabanned: (thread: How do you think the Trump Presidency will end? r/AskReddit)
[In response to another user's comment, BTW]
At this point you should be openly antagonistic to any reddit mod who calls you out for threatening violence against these douchebag Nazis.
You are protecting and enabling the villains when you ban us for saying these things BTW. Keep that in mind before you hit the "Ban User Button" on this comment. (Also this was not a direct threat to anyone, merely commentary, so you can REALLY stuff it.)
I'm not attempting to brigade or anything, and yeah, this technically from Reddit, but it's a deleted post, (I deleted it) so kinda doesn't exist there anymore. This is more...a "sample for consideration."
I'm pretty sure this doesn't work if a user has hidden their posts
That stopped working ages ago.
How many fucking times do I have to say it works and I've used it recently before one of you idiots telling me it doesn't actually checked.
Here's some proof with the first random hidden profile I found:

Being on Reddit is like being on Facebook. We have been warned.
It's worse because the mods can be trolls.
One of the comic mods openly admitted to pinning inflammatory comments just to get push back so they could ban users that didn't agree with their inflammatory comments. The described it as "very common practice".
So yeah. Trolls. It was among the reason I chose to ditch the hell site.
They're also the type to claim it's literally impossible to be sexist towards men, racist towards white people, etc. Literally impossible to be sexist on the basis of sex, love it.
> be me bored 4Channer
> click on obvious bot account using ChatGPT
> want to check post history for confirmation
> realize this is fucking 4Chan... there's no such thing as history
> wtf.jpg
I think the difference is that reddit pretends to have a system for floating high quality posts to the top, whereas 4chan openly brands itself as an ocean of piss
Whoa whoa whoa, it’s not just piss. There’s loads of shit too, floating in the sea of piss.
There are still humans on Reddit?
"accidentally"...
People thinking that bots are real people increases engagement numbers.
Real and heterosexual.
Haven't checked myself but a while back someone told me you can still find the posts and comments if you search for the user. So that basically just adds an extra step
The irony is that me, a real person, gets banned and banned some more, for saying something pro-Republican back in 2012, while these bot accounts spray slop all over the site with immunity.
It's ok, I've been perma-banned for stating the simple fact that Andrew Tate deserves to be beaten to death in a dark and hopeless Brazilian prison. So they've come full circle.
That sucks man. I got banned for "anti-Zionism". Reddit really has become a meaningless wasteland for anyone with political opinions.
FUCK ALL ZIOS, UNLOVINGLY
They treat anybody with an account that's less than 30 days old as if they're animals to be abused for sport. Someone should file a class action lawsuit over Shadow banning. You could post 50 messages before you start to even realize that nobody is seeing them.
are you still republican?
No, I was never a republican I'm just not a "blue no matter who" type of person
