This is a symptom of $8k grandpa trucks now being $50k road tanks.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

ai slop? But I remember reading this actually years ago?

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

Yeah, if anything, it's a copy pasta, though not even sure it's that because I haven't seen it a lot.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Also from this self-proclaimed "SI assisted" (yes, using Trump's Super Intelligence term) account:

Americans, you may think this election is about the cost of living.

But I want you to think harder about what's really at stake.

A dystopia where your daughter gets raped, and her father gets arrested for reporting it.

A world where your daughter is enslaved, beaten over and over, forced to cover herself in black cloth, and forbidden from going to school.

I want you to think seriously about whether that future could come to America.

You hate Trump. You're pissed off because Musk is rich. You didn't get richer under the Republicans.

For reasons that petty, you can't think beyond a three-foot radius or two years in either direction.

Have you even considered that your country could become a hellish Muslim kingdom? That America could end up like Europe?

I want you to think about that when you vote.

Aren't your families and communities what really matter?

Why would you let your daughters be tortured just to prioritize Islam, gay couples buying children through surrogacy, or groups of women demanding acquittals for people who kill children?

Why are you so determined to put the rights of people you consider abnormal ahead of your own daughters?

Not the rights of minorities. Not the rights of people facing discrimination.

The rights of people you consider abnormal.

Seriously. Please think again.

TL;DR: Yes Musk is rich, but you should still vote for republicans because voting for the slightly less intolerant, but still right-wing party means gay muslim women are gonna come buy and kill your children.

Xitter link here, luckily many people are now realizing that it's a propaganda slop account. Which for people still using that service is a pretty big deal

This is funny (in a sad kind of way) to me, because:

  • It's already a dystopia where your daughter gets raped and if she reports it, she gets swatted
  • The "hellish Muslim kingdom" he speaks about shares more values with republicans than democrats (hardcore muslims are extremely right-wing and in fact the main gripe islamic terrorists usually have is that the other muslims aren't right-wing enough)
  • I've yet to see this hellish Muslim kingdom in Europe. The one (1) Syrian family in my town has yet to bomb anything curiously enough
  • In what universe is voting for republicans going to be in the interests of "your own daughters" anyway? They're the ones curtailing women's rights (because, again - they're the ones who have so much in common with islamic extremists. Just right-wing extremists of two different religions, of course they have similar ideas).
  • I thought minorities were also part of your communities. Also his character is a minority too. I suspect he himself is either American, Israeli or Russian.
[–] BitUnWise@programming.dev 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, the only reason I didn't vote for Republicans last time was that I didn't get rich

"Never mind" is two words. There is no such compound noun as "nevermind".

but it could be a proper noun, Nevermind, such as in Janelle Monae's 2018 e-motion picture Dirty Computer!

[–] TipsyDragon@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That twitter/x account is a racist propaganda account posting these AI texts (yes, its AI as to their own admission) to spread insane garbage on their twitter.

Reddit link warning but in case someone wants to see:

[–] yetAnotherUser@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I've seen that fucker way too often on Lemmy already.

It's always just:

In Japan, people do bad thing.

In USA, people are polite, helpful, accommodating, and friendly.

It's literally just nationalism designed to stroke US-American's ego of how great their society is.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 2 points 14 hours ago

Yet look at all the clowns in the comments patting themeselvrs on the back for knowing that Carly what this bot is talking about.

It’s placating. Americans are so easy to subdue.

[–] Mandarbmax@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Whelp, never posting this guy again. Thanks for the heads up.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

I mean, most posts on Twitter are LLM-generated. Especially blue checkmark ones.

TBH, I wouldn't post any. I block communities that put too many Tweet screenshots in my feed, as they're basically always ragebait posted by an engagement farming account.

...I didn't come to Lemmy for that shit.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 1 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Sadly the further down this rabbit hole you go, the less there will be of lemmy to actually see. All the kids do nowadays is share slop memes back and forth. The meme economy has gone bankrupt.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

I mean, it’s always been bankrupt, but at least the memes were reposted from somewhere.

The part that isn’t okay is the source being a bad actor. A spammer. That is simply unacceptable, yet posters and upvoters don’t seem to care.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 1 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

And that’s what I mean. These kids don’t care. They will stop at nothing to give you the illusion that they do, but behavior is a tell- words aren’t.

Just look at how everyone complains about YouTube, then check the numbers. It’s more popular than ever.

Or really, any of the flavor-of-the-week complaints.

Like… Remember when everyone was hating on Rockstar for union busting? These kids are climbing over one another to hand over their saliva-soaked money for GTAVI pre-orders. (Also something they constantly yell at others for)

And let’s add on the fuckton of Facebook accounts that still exist even though we get daily articles about how META despises the LGBTQ+.

There has never been a more disingenuous generation than the recent batches. They just consume shit ad nauseum- all while giving the illusion that they give a shit about any of it. And you can’t directly call them out because you’ll get torn apart by the fact that they need to keep the ruse going. So with clutched pearls and a new sense of victimhood, they definitely deny all of it while calling you a “boomer”.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Whoaaa Nellie.

I don’t believe in intergenerational finger pointing like that. It’s not productive.

Besides, older generations have no leg to stand on. I see everyone from millennials to boomers indulging in the exact same addictive algos, sharing and acting in misinformation. And they have no excuse because they grew up with the “old internet.” Hence it doesn’t matter; everyone, in aggregate, is doing this.

I just meant to highlight the information hygiene problem on Lemmy, specifically. It really bothers me, but it doesn’t seem to bother most users, old or young, which worries me.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 1 points 7 hours ago

We can agree to disagree.

I wish Americans voted the same way they move couches. That is, for the purpose of helping someone with no expectation of profit.

[–] JargonWagon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago
[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 50 points 2 days ago (2 children)

the disconnect between how people act face to face and how they vote is sometimes mind blowing

then with other people, it's just right as expected. you know the type, the ones who never think to hold a door, who leaves shopping carts in the way, who act like dangerous assholes the moment they start driving a vehicle

This floats to the top of my feed from time to time and Im always happy to read it again

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 0 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

If you knew it was slop why did you post it?

[–] Mandarbmax@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I didn't know it was slop when I posted it. I updated the title when I found out

This is the most male coded thing I've read in years and it almost made me cry. This was sweet on a very masculine level 🥲

[–] Mandarbmax@lemmy.world 56 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I love positive masculinity!

[–] 0x0@infosec.pub 3 points 1 day ago

Thank you for your service

[–] BodilessGaze@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

For the 0.3 couch, do you chop it lengthwise or widthwise?

[–] WandowsVista@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

we julienne it to fit around the wheel wells

[–] ViatorOmnium@piefed.social 53 points 2 days ago (2 children)

In Germany instead of Kevin there's Jan, and instead of a truck he has a toolbox that's bigger on the inside like the Tardis.

[–] dfyx@piefed.social 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I've helped my Kurdish neighbors that I've barely ever talked to move out of the apartment next to mine. Ten hours of carrying stuff down the stairs, into someone's cousin's GLS delivery van. They asked me over and over, why a German would do that for foreigners that he barely knows. I shrugged. I said nothing. It was all for a warm meal and the privilege of now knowing someone who delivers parcels for GLS and can borrow the van over the weekend.

When America isn’t busy being at war with itself, it is a hilariously wholesome co-op where everyone is a member of everyone else’s family.

i like this more as a script for a gay porn intro

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is an old(-ish?) copypasta, but it's a good one.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 24 points 2 days ago

I've read it before. I'll read it again. I have a truck, it's ugly, it's old, and it runs, so it gets used to haul stuff, most recently a refrigerator. The owner of the fridge was out of country. I had to be elsewhere at the designated time, so I was not the "arms", just the guy with a truck. I've owned it for decades. I could not possibly sell it for anything like it's value to society.
