He's thinking, wow, the president was right: this is WAY harder without my thumb up his ass.

[–] GutterRat42@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Did he go to the Pete Hegseth school of lifting?

[–] cardboardboxfort@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Where they build strength by chugging Jack Daniels and doing key stands.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This guy wants power do badly, so he can pull a Right-Wing Mamdani, and be a big conservative hero.

He tried president, he's trying governor, and if he loses this, I predict he'll try to be mayor of some city next, probably Cleveland. I grew up in Cleveland, they're dumb enough to vote for him.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There already was a right wing Mamdani. It was in Kansas with Gov Sam Brownback. He ushered in the Kansas Experiment. It was a resounding failure.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

Good point. And yet there are still MAGAs who think it will still work if THEY do it, because Brownback was too Woke.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

He lives in Columbus. They don't like him there

I can never get over the fact that americans go out to see their favourite politician talk, wearing all the swag and flags like it's a concert.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What's that?

Obama in Berlin? With 200.000 Germans watching him? Like it's a concert?

With their swag? Crazy Americ.... Germans.

[–] Ungraded@lemmy.ml 2 points 20 hours ago

There is a single German flag and it is upsidedown One American flag

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 9 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Us politics is treated as a sport.

[–] cheat700000007@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They are taught us vs them from birth. Everything is a competition with someone as an enemy

[–] NewSocialWhoDis@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

The hyper polarization of our system actually started around the mid 90s with cable news and Republicans taking a take-no-prisoners approach to the Clintons, especially the advent of Murdoch's Fox News.

Before that era, polling to questions like "How would you feel if your child married someone from the opposite political party?" were a lot more moderate.

To be fair, it's mostly the red hat gang.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 28 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Another loser Indian Republican. (I'm Indian and tired of brown people thinking they are white and privileged. If I remember correctly, Bobby Jindal said he was white. Another terrible person)

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 16 points 2 days ago

wealthy indians tend to be super conservatives, especially if they are from a rich caste family back in india, the poorers tend to be more democratic.

[–] hexdream@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The epstein class showing off their toys in public now? Ok, enough internet for me today.

[–] deft@lemmy.wtf 4 points 2 days ago

Vicious. Brutal.

That is not a "pick up" sized kid.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Not the way he did it.

I'm a short out of shape woman. I can still pick up a kid that size. Can't carry them far but I can.

It's about the heft. You gotta get like this momentum and use your arms in two locations. Around the armpits and the other under the butt.

The other way is if you are going to rest them on your hip. You have them face you directly. Hand under each armpit. Hoist. And again. Get momentum. So there is help pulling them up. And also the kid has to know they need to wrap their legs around your hip.

I guess I dont know for sure if this works for men. As they don't have hips that can stick out like that. ?

Kids can also do this thing I call the noodle. They go all limp. It makes them impossible to pick up the way that guy is doing it. You absolutely have to do the first method I mentioned.

I don't even have kids. I'm an auntie. And I used to babysit when I was younger. Which is why I decided to never have children.

But yeah. The "hoist" or "momentum" is necessary.

[–] MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yea, I'm not going to bother looking into this guy at all, but I immediately thought "this guy can't possibly have kids". Anyone with kids knows that the regular pickups stop before they reach this kids age. I'm not saying no one could or should pick this kid up, I'm just saying that none of the kids in my life that age expect to be picked up with any regularity, and if someone went to pick them up I'd imagine they were extremely close relatives and accustomed to doing so.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I have made it my goal to pick up my kids as long as they want and I am capable. I will train to keep up if possible. I pick them up at least once a day to keep at it. They are turning 6 and 8.

Not just for my health. That's the least of it. It's for them. And for me. Picking them up for a big ole hug is the fuckin best. And I hope it imprints my love for them in their minds.

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago

His handler was probably backstage over the headset, being like, "Code red, code red, he's trying to pick up the child. I repeat, he's trying to pick up the child."

*chucks headset on floor "what the fuck is this idiot doing?!"

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 42 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So did he rant on about the obesity crisis in US children?

Who exactly attends these rallys? Unemployed?

[–] BuckFutter@timeyak.com 27 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Who exactly attends these rallys? Unemployed?

Lol thank you, who are these people? Is it the retirement communities that will do anything to get out of the center?

[–] buttmasterflex@piefed.social 17 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I have never attended a political rally. I cannot fathom a reason to ever do that.

For the love of all that is fucking holy Ohio, please send this dipshit packing.

[–] cardboardboxfort@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

If they do it'll probably be close.

Vivek Ramaswamy. He is a con-man running for governor of Ohio. He made his fortune by buying a failed alzheimer drug and then lying to investors about its potential in order to jack up the stock price of his company. He is also famous for going on a Christmas day rant, along with Elon Musk, about how entitled and worthless American workers are because we demand things like a living wage and want free time to enjoy things like recreation.

He isn't doing to well in Ohio fortunately.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Holy shit he's actually losing. To a shitty dem sure, but a shitty dem can still be expected to fight against the extreme gerrymandering that's ruined the state I once ~~loved~~ well, called home

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah being so physically weak that you can’t pick up a child probably doesn’t go over well in “big huge warrior country” places like Ohio lol

Sounds like a pretty stand-up guy other than that /s

[–] cardboardboxfort@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

He really is a shitty person. He had a moment during the 2016 primaries but was easily eclipsed by Trumps personality. He was suppose to work on DOGE with Elon but got canned after his Christmas day insult pissed off a ton of MAGA's. He's also managed to offend Christians in Ohio, he is a brand of Hindu that believes in a monotheists god but not necessarily a Christian god. He said something like "Jesus Christ isn't THE God he's a god" or something like that and you can imagine how that, along with his hindu-lite religious believes, went over with the Bible crowd.

I'm hoping he keeps screwing up.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Even MAGAs hated him. He recently tried to give a speech to a Red audience, and they booed him out of the room. These minority MAGA candidates think their money and their MAGAness will make MAGA voters colorblind. It won't.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

he's crazy and brown, but mostly brown.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago

MAGA hated Mark Robinson too, and he was black.

Ramaswamy is trash, yea, but tbf that kid was doing everything they could to be a block of dead weight.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 7 points 2 days ago (8 children)

Vivek Ramaswamy. He's the GOP candidate for governor of Ohio.

Amy Acton is the Democratic candidate.
