I can never get over the fact that americans go out to see their favourite politician talk, wearing all the swag and flags like it's a concert.
What's that?
Obama in Berlin? With 200.000 Germans watching him? Like it's a concert?
With their swag? Crazy Americ.... Germans.
There is a single German flag and it is upsidedown One American flag
Us politics is treated as a sport.
They are taught us vs them from birth. Everything is a competition with someone as an enemy
The hyper polarization of our system actually started around the mid 90s with cable news and Republicans taking a take-no-prisoners approach to the Clintons, especially the advent of Murdoch's Fox News.
Before that era, polling to questions like "How would you feel if your child married someone from the opposite political party?" were a lot more moderate.
Ooh yeah. Just look at all that Obama swag the whole crowd is wearing.
It's not about the swag it's about going to see your favourite war criminal live on stage.
To be fair, it's mostly the red hat gang.
