Full title: John C Woods, hangman of Nuremberg trials, who lied about his experience to get the job (he actually learned about hanging from old cowboy films). His lack of expertise led to excessive suffering of condemned Nazis.

Condemned men should be treated with respect. This isn't about the moral quality of the condemned, but the quality of the society that commits to execution.

The Nuremberg trials were a triumph of the rules-based international system. This fool undermined all of that.

If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life.

Oh no. Anyway.

Lemmy is being invaded by plagiarizing repost bots.

[–] Waterpumpee@lemmus.org 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Is this a problem? I dont use reddit and like seeing (proven) interesting posts here?

[–] micgerne@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 2 days ago

the problem is that OP just reposts content from reddit without providing sources, links or anything remotely verifiable to follow up with the title.

It’s not a problem if you’re not worried about one person monopolizing a community by using a script to repost the top posts in a community of seventeen million but if you don’t have a problem with that why not just use Reddit instead?

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Lots of reasons people don't use reddit but still want content

[–] DeepDown@leminal.space 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Same. Naturally some good stuff will occasionally come from there or even less likable places. I just don't want all of it coming from one guy. Especially when they don't even engage, they just mill posts endlessly without any thought at all

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

In some ways it is easier if it comes from one account. Easier to block if you don't like, and less chance of duplicate posts.

I guess I'm not seeing the issue from having it come from one bot.

[–] DeepDown@leminal.space 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sadly, this person is not one bot. There's been this whole thing about it, they're one person operating a large number of automated accounts that they refuse to mark as bots.

On a certain level, I'm probably just being petty that they're hogging the feed and interaction from other people. But I'd like to pretend it's actively making user interactions more superficial and attention-driven.

Huh, I wonder if it's the same person behind mustachius that keeps posting on history memes, it's the same MO

[–] DeepDown@leminal.space 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

This one showed up at the exact same time as all the other Moustachious accounts. He seems to want to put one repost bot per community.

The one called "Sanitation" has been around much longer so I won't personally point the finger there but others have.

[–] micgerne@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago

if it was just one bot it wouldn't be as much of an issue, the problem is it's more than one. I've already blocked two eerily similar repost accounts on other comms and I don't want to keep playing whack-a-mole

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If you don’t care what’s the problem with me pointing it out?

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Who said i don't care? I do care.

Botching executions seems to be a theme with the USA.

Ironically they were getting rid of a few guys that really were damn good at killing.

I'll let myself out...

A hero they deserved.

Hanging?

Yeah, careful flaying from forehead down just slow enough to ensure no passing out and then a nice slow roast at the stake is a more appropriate form of punishment for Nazis, Fascists, Racists/Racial Supremacists, Homophobes, Transphobes, etc.

[–] tio_bira@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Amen brother

[–] Schemen110676@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Here is the thing, you really need to know how to do THAT.. otherwise they'll die of shock or something else.

The main issue i have with getting conned by a wrong hangman is that its just so unprofessional

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 day ago

Exactly. This is why Ron Desantis has the perfect background for the job.

[–] z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 day ago

Yeah fair, and then there's the matter of how that person knows how to do that and you potentially have a bigger problem on your hands.

Oh well, a man can nightmare.

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you cut the skin off the meat will dry out. You gotta roast 'em at a temperature that renders the fat under the skin making the skin crispy.

[–] z3rOR0ne@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 day ago

Meh, rather starve than eat long pig. Not to mention they should be scared shitless before death, which we all know makes the meat all stringy and tough. No thanks, I'll settle for witnessing the suffering of the monsters.

A hero.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

Talking about suffering, the same cowboy movies that falsely made cinema goers believe all American men had guns.
