My Kurdish birth-name is a boys' name in Turkish and a girls' name is Kurdish.
Except my genius self still used their explicitly male middle-name for all online accounts.

Rules on Comments
If a post is tagged with a specific gender identity, keep the conversation centered on that identity.
You must follow the Egg Prime Directive. You may not push or coerce people into identifying or not identifying a certain way. You must respect them as the gender they claim to identify as. In addition it is extremely in poor taste to make assumptions about other people's identities based on external factors, we understand it cannot be helped but it is best not to as it can affect the way you treat others in noticeable ways. Read more about this decision here.
No Ewwphoria posts. Posts which contain misogyny, misandry, transmisogyny, transmisandry, or enbyphobia for the purpose of expressing euphoria are not allowed here. At best they bring anger to others, and at worst they may trigger people's dysphoria. People who create such posts will have them removed and may be banned at moderator discretion.
Recommendations:
We strongly encourage you to include your pronouns in your account bio so that others know how to refer to you without misgendering you. If you're questioning or unsure of your pronouns, that's totally cool—just say so.

IMHO a middle name feels very much like a last name to me, in that the gender doesn’t really matter to most people. I’ve met plenty of cis people with a gendered middle name that doesn’t match their gender.
Granted it matters more in some cultures than others, and I’m absolutely not trying to tell you how to feel about it. I’m just letting you know that if you stuck with it, it wouldnt be that outside the norm.
Aww thank you, I feel better now :3
Good thing I'm cis because the mail I use for everything is literally "namesurname".
And fun fact: in Italy, your "fiscal code" (which is like a social security number) is computed from name, sex, place of birth, and time of birth, so when you change name (or assigned sex), that changes as well. I think it's opt-in and you could keep your dead name and assigned sex on it... But...
German pension insurance number does that as well. It has gender in it, but only first letter of the name.
exactly why my nickname was flitzy :3
Pissman2020 was an S tier username, but it's not for me anymore
what about Pisscreature2026?
Well, that was me, my username has always been tanisnikana, cause Tanis Nikana is the name I had at birth. Eventually I decided changing it is too hard. Just kept it.
From the perspective of an international audience, the name sounds fairly unisex. Is it actually gendered in your own language?
Parents were white Americans on an Air Force base in rural Japan. They gave me an Irish boy’s name that would be reasonably smooth in katakana. I transitioned to female at 28, kept it, pronunciation and spelling (タニス) and all. A lot of people think my last name is Japanese too, but it isn’t. I’m not sure where it came from. I learned English when I moved to America when I was 11. Most people don’t know I can speak Japanese from looking at me.
And given that you grew up with Japanese you probably speak it quite well, to the surprise of most Japanese.
Thank god discord you can change your display name and even username. I would have had to make a new account.
unfortunately, it's also discord
I chose this username as a kid and… uh… it kinda worked out.
