This would have been the perfect time to say: No.

Have you even said thank you once?

[–] oyzmo@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Ok, so EU releases. What did they get in return?

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 days ago

They get called suckers and losers.

This lends credence to the narrative that they aren't planning to stop the war. Cause the market would correct at the slightest whiff of peace. Perhaps the 2000-pound bombs being shipped to Israel are for Iran.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

The market has been corrwcting for theblast 8 months. Eventually reserves will be depleted and the markets will have to match reality

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

This sounds like "leverage" to me.

The Trump administration has urged Europe to release diesel reserves, saying U.S. consumers and businesses should not bear the burden of global supply disruptions.

Trump starts highly unpopular war

Gas prices soar

Trump begs Europe for help, saying "we shouldn't have consequences for my actions"

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 79 points 1 week ago (2 children)

what he’s saying is americans shouldn’t have consequences for his actions. its fine for europeans have consequences.

[–] Azal@pawb.social 3 points 6 days ago

Lets be frank, by "Americans" he means him and his chronies. He's only worried about his not chronies because election is coming up.

As an American, fuck it, let the consequences pile. Many of the people who actively wanted this are hurting the most.

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 40 points 1 week ago (4 children)

It blows my mind. How can you attack all your allies with tariffs and literal threats of invasion, start a pointless fucked up war that hurts everyone including those not involved, and then ask your "allies" to hurt themselves a bit more because now you're feeling the results of your own actions

I hope the only response the EU has to this is to laugh in Trump's face

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

He’s a narcissist with dementia.

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 8 points 1 week ago

americans voted for this twice. some of them three times

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I hope the only response the EU has to this is to laugh in Trump's face

Coming from the future to say: They capitulated.

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 days ago

Do you feel represented by your representatives?

Trump's people aren't even admitting that the USA started this war. They seem to be trying to build a narrative in which the USA is simply defending itself from Iran's attacks. The fact that the USA attacked Iran first is no longer considered a fact.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

These braindead Nazis don't even consider Biden winning the 2020 election a fact. You could tell them the sky is blue and they would argue that it's actually red while sucking on their pedophile king's diaper

[–] OldMan@slrpnk.net 2 points 6 days ago

Why would you do that!? Why would you put that image in my head while I'm trying to have breakfast?

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

Just like they are "defending" from our "retaliatory" tariffs. Poor US under fire from all these asshole countries that take advantage of them by checks notes trading with them. Keep it up guys, you are definitely winning on all fronts except the real ones

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 week ago

saying U.S. consumers and businesses should not bear the burden of global supply disruptions.

lol okay? Half of all Americans voted for this and the rest of the pain being inflicted on the world by their country, so with all due respect (none), they can go fuck themselves

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 59 points 1 week ago (4 children)

Don't do it Europe! I am a US citizen that drives a diesel vehicle and I urge you to tell the orange pedophile to fuck right off.. we need to suffer so enough people get fed up and destroy these moron republicans at the midterms so we can win our country back.

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 week ago

You rock.

Hahahahaha

Why would Europe do anything to help this regime that has mocked them, made aggressive threats against their sovereignty and is funding far right movements in local elections. FAFO as the Americans like to say.

[–] myrmidex@belgae.social 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

My money is on Europe conceding.

EU member states are scheduled to hold crisis talks on Friday

I guess we'll find out later today.

[–] myrmidex@belgae.social 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

G7 to release up to 100 million barrels of oil and diesel from reserves onto market

source

called it

...

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen also said on social media that she was "pleased by the G7 countries' decision not to impose export bans on allies and by the continued solidarity between partners". On Friday, the Commission had warned that such a ban "would undermine confidence in the US as a reliable partner".

/sigh

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (5 children)

They won't. Prices are even higher in Europe. Diesel is like 11 dollars a gallon in my town.

Europe should really stop listening to trump.

[–] Master167@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I can think of a better way to drive oil prices down. But it's not considered a High T move. So it'll never happen with this current president.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Its a high IQ move, but this regime doesnt do that.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

What do you mean? Trump has repeatedly told us that he aced multiple tests designed to screen people who are suspected of having dementia. Surely that denotes high IQ.

What i wonder is why the doctors keep making him do the test.

[–] bad1080@piefed.social 14 points 1 week ago

oh so now it's a war? if only somebody had the power to stop said war...

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lol why? Winter is just around the corner. They need those reserves. This sounds like a Russian directive. Ukraine is going to need that extra fuel to keep the heat on this winter.

[–] PuddleOfKittens@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Yes, but also this wouldn't be as much of a problem if Europe had invested more into renewables - switched more extensively from gas/oil heating to electric, been less NIMBY about renewables and wind turbines in particular, built more electrified rail.

This is Europe's third oil/gas crisis in a decade. It should be seen as the new normal by now.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

Agreed. The obsession with oil is a very western culture problem.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

trump fucks the whole world for his own profit and makes enemies of everyone. Then he gets his minions to whine for help from the same countries/people he pissed on.

[–] weps@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (3 children)

They start a US-Israel war in Iran. Close the strait

and now the Americans threatens Europe with an oil export ban

Americans used to be OK

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

That's not even the half of it.

More than a dozen different countries and orgs are fighting in Syria right now, hundreds of thousands dead, it could be much more, we have no way of knowing

Including Russia, Iran, Turkey, Islamic State, et al

Why is the US press reporting heavily on Israel/Palestine, so much more than Syria? (This is my opinion, tell me if I'm wrong I can't read all of the news)

I think it's to deflect away from Syria, a much larger conflict that seems like a World War to me. It includes USA, Middle East including Israel, Russia, Turkey, how many nations to qualify for WW?

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago

Americans (ruling class) used to be OK

Not really. We just didn't notice cause we weren't as affected / targeted.

[–] benjirenji@slrpnk.net 2 points 6 days ago

They just treat us like anyone else now.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

NOW this racist authoritarian thieving administration needs Europe? Get fucked.

[–] kboos1@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

They would be dumb to do anything Dump tells them to do.

[–] peacepath@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

If his aim is to enforce a fully protectionist policy for the US, and therefore make sure to degrade all partnerships, he is near success.

His claims all seems to go for isolationism and to bring back the situation as before the first world war... a country neutral and not involved in international business, where the richests are empowered as lords.

Here, he knows Europe won't give away its strategic stock. If he blocates trade with Europe, it would be on the two ways. And he may claim that it is Europe's fault, while making a big step toward isolationism.
