Of course it can. And 58 isn’t ancient, she still has a long time left on this earth and deserves to find someone to share it with.

Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !uspolitics@lemmy.world
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.

so its good if they date?
Absolutely. And have sex
so this happened with you also?
What? The sex bit? Not with your mum
It is not more good or bad that if she was 25 years old. People need affection at all ages.
so even can they love
Of course. My 80-something grandpa said (practically) on his death bed, that one of the biggest regrets was not seeking out a partner again after his wife had died.
It you can still long for a romantic relationship when you're 80 and just got a cancer diagnosis, then idk what could stop you. Most people are simply wired by nature to enjoy romantic relationships.
Great thanks for your reply so i can encourage them?
They’re probably bumping uglies too.
Of course it can, multiple times, at any age.
So can romance scams, so it doesn't automatically mean every proposal is good!
If she knows the person in person, they've know each other for a long time (imho two years is when people start knowing if it's love or infatuation/lust), and they love her and she loves them back and she wants to marry them (and imo if they've tried to lived together for a while to know their lifestyls are compatible), and it's not just based on fear of being alone; it's all good. As it is at every age.
But she's also an adult and knows her heart better than you or I, so she can decide for herself what's good.
Well, lonely widows / widowers are prime targets for romance scams, that is true.
They are also prime dating material for other single people their age.
The hard part is being open enough to have fun and if possible, find love, but careful enough to not get scammed.
ya she also ask me suggestion w=so what i say
My mom's dating at 62 and she seems happy, so. 😊 I just make sure she takes no bullshit, because women from that generation are often raised to take shit (read: abuse).
ya thats why i think, how i believe on him?
There's no way to know for sure, and we have our own lives to live too, so there's only so much we can do. I dunno, just talk to mom about him, you know? And if you notice any red flags, such as controlling behavior, bad attitude, whatever, tell your mom that she's worth more than anything in the universe and that she should treat herself accordingly: take. no. shit.
so upto that can they meet daily
We definitely don't have the right to tell them how to date.
ok but na
My mother remarried later in life. She met my stepfather at a widow and widowers club and they were together for about 30 years before she died. He recently married again at the age of 92. He was younger than my mother, but his new wife is younger than him, at 70. She's younger than me! They met through church, I believe.
That's the key I think - meeting in person, through social clubs and activities or hobbies.
whats your thought at what age they are married?
I'm thrilled for them. It's great to see my stepfather so happy. He was a really good husband to my mum.
nice, one thing happened can i share?
so its good if they date?
It's the same as with people dating at any age. Is the new partner a good person? Are there any red flags? In the end though, adults make their own choices. It really is none of your business - and I say that as kindly as possible.
one thing happened in my family can i share?
yeah, but it's less likely to happen as you get older because your hormones are raging less and less as you age.
people are most apt to 'fall in love' when their are hormoned up.
i personally find myself hardly ever attracted to the opposite sex anymore, but 20 years ago it happened regularly, and when I was a teenager I was crushing on a new person happened every month.
actuallly one thing happened can i share here or other app?
