The announcement came just weeks before Election Day on Nov. 3 and with early voting already underway.

The U.S. National Security Agency and other military intelligence and cybersecurity forces will guard election systems during the November midterms, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Monday.

Pretty sure all this is illegal, but Americans really no longer care.

I care but I also have no idea what to do.

This is one of those times you read about in history. We're supposed to group up at our state capitals and throw bricks at politicians while lighting things on fire.

Go vote on voting day and bring a gun. Get merced in the streets and become a martyr.

Duh

This is the sentiment I get from European lemmy users.

Still not getting it. How his the article you linked relating to DJT being “impossible to leave office at the end of his term”.

Ah, that needs a little bit more recursive thinking.
Because he made anyone liable for life prosecutable, as soon as he’s fired, the next USSCJ will be allowed to sue him for every crime he made, b4, during, and after he’s fired.
There’s no more statues of limitations, ever.
It's a pandora that can't be resealed.

"guard election systems" is he saying he's going to have troops at the polls?

Edit: I still don't see any other sources reporting that this is the case and the only thing on that site resembling proof is

In a memo dated Sept. 22 and publicly announced Monday, Hegseth directed defense intelligence officials to mobilize every resource “to defend our election infrastructure from foreign malign influence and ensure that every lawful voter can cast their ballot free from foreign intimidation, coercion, or fear.”

Which doesn't say anything about troops at polls

the sheer irony in colluding in election interference before from Russia to continually cry wolf
