All I found was 15 year old documentation, broken hard drives, and bulldog clips when I did mine.

Hell yeah.
Spore has been reborn as a FOSS remake, Thrive
Played it just the other day. Can’t wait until it’s finished. So far I got to the terrestrial blob stage.
I don’t think I ever got passed the training in black and white but I liked the game.
Sims medieval is such a banger.
Black and white is on my "please god make a VR port" list.
What's the game like?
Its like a blend of Populus and Creatures.
Youre a god and have to look after your villagers (or torture them into submission/worship) and keep them safe from a rival god, the more villagers you have the more belief (mana) you get, and you've got a giant creature as a pet that learns from you to help.
I got annoyed with a quest and threw the quest-giver-villagers into the sea. My pet saw me do that and decided thats what we should do. He went back and forth from the village throwing every villager into the sea one by one and completely destroyed my run.
10/10 experience.
Same here but after prototyping, the issue is that the game would require you to face down which is a very good position in XR.
Omg, beating the crap out of your creature would be so awful lol.
Wow that'd be awesome. Played sitting at a table. Oof good times.
Make a copy of those Black and White discs. You can't get that game anywhere anymore.
Most of the PC cds are already archived. However the mac version, except for the platinum version, is very hard to find. https://www.myabandonware.com/search/q/black%20&%20white
Hopefully I find my USB CD drive and I can get it up on the Internet Archive
I meant purchase, but always good to have backups on the archive! It may already be there.
Man, I always loved the Harry Potter games on PC. Exploring the castle with early 2000s graphics and sound was such a vibe. Of course, this was before Rowling's whole... everything.
Yeah me too! Especially the second game was my favorite as a kid! Did you know that the soundtrack was made by the same dude who made the Skyrim Soundtrack later?
I was surprised to not see The Sims: Making Magic when I saw that. Figured it would have been up their alley
Yeah I loved the Legend of Zelda feel to the old games. The platforming was wonky as a result of not having a jump button but everything else hit so well.
I mean, the racism and bigotry was always in the books, her money has just more open about her hate for specific groups.
In hindsight yes, but at the time I was probably around 8, so it didn't register back then.
It’s fucking blatant, too. White British people in the nineties/early two thousands might well have had a blind spot (not an excuse) and not realized that “Cho Chang” was as fucked up a name as it was, but I simply cannot believe that nobody noticed the only explicitly Irish character was constantly sneaking whisky and making explosions.
I remember seeing this commercial in the UK in the mid 00s.
I always wanted to play Spore, but I never have.
Have a look at Thrive, it's still in development but the first couple of stages are playable.
I really like that the project is FLOSS and made in godot: https://github.com/Revolutionary-Games/Thrive
It was actually a pretty fun game, and if I recall correctly, eventually free. You might actually be able to find it online somewhere.
Although I’m not entirely sure if you wanna call it a game, per se… It was more like an evolution engine wherewith you got to experiment with different traits combinations, and eventually end up with an evolved creature of sorts. Interesting and amusing.
It seemed like something one might find in a fifth grade biology class as a teaching tool. But fun!
It was supposed to be an evolution engine. That’s how they developed it and how the tech demos and marketing pushed it.
But then it ended up being simplified and gamified so much that it basically didn’t matter what you did, so the only fun part was making your creatures look like penises.
I had no idea The Sims Medieval was a thing lol
The Sims Medieval is a weird game. It's barely a Sims game in the sense that you create characters, can edit the character's homes a bit, and the characters have needs you need to take care of.
But it's actually this weird RPG-like game where the characters play parts in stories and ongoing narrative. Basically you create characters for specific roles, and pick mini-stories to play through. Kind of hard to explain.
Also it's running on The Sims 3 engine so it's full of jank from the get-go, and it's basically unsupported by EA, and - and! - delisted from Steam in favour of Origin/EA app.
It’s barely SIM game. In spirit maybe, but you’re not building homes you get a premade house and then do SIM adventure type stuff.
I actually rather enjoyed the game as a casual relaxing kind of game.
I don’t recommend it at top price, but if you can get it for less than $10 or $20 it’ll be worth the money.
What is column 1 disk 2?
Probably Black and White, seeing as it's Lionhead and there's the expansion pack below it with similar art.
One mystical day will get a Black & White remake
Still have my copy of a collectors edition of Spore. Gotta be one of my favorite game cases by far.
I adored the Sims Medieval. And Spore. But medieval was fun with the adventures and making a little medieval town and such.
I had Flight Simulator! Crashed so many planes. Happy days.
