I just want to say, I never in a million years expected that guy from The Whitest Kids U Know to be one of the most reliably good horror filmmakers.
I never would have willingly watched a Resident Evil movie from Paul W.S. Anderson, but can't wait to see this one.

Yes, he has directed a few films now that have been received very positively.
He's honestly an amazing filmmaker, his pacing is impeccable.
I haven't seen Resident Evil yet, but Barbarian and Weapons had a perfect balance of escalation and intrigue.
Nobody is going to guess how either movie will end; and they aren't cop-out twist endings either, they are congruent with the narrative.
Pretty fun movie. After watching this I kept thinking how great Creggers would do making a remake for Evil Dead 2 and have the main actor play Ash.
This movie had the right amount of comedy and horror.
It's a fun movie. I actually found myself saying exactly what the protagonist was saying at certain points. He's so perfectly just 'Mr. Everyman' and in over his head that you can't help but laugh.
I think anyone that has played a RE game and spoken to their screen at certain moments will enjoy this movie. It's a GOOD video game movie.
Didn't like the ending.
Counterpoint: The ending was inevitable. Cregger claimed he was sticking with canon to some degree, and while he deviated more than folks expected... we already know what happened in Raccoon City. I'm glad he ended it the way he did.
True, I was fresh off a showing and a little sour about it but in RE terms it ended pretty well.
I have heard that the ending is the only real negative point. Which is a shame, because you come away from it with that as your final thought/feeling about it.

It was good dumb fun, but nothing that incredible IMO. First half was much better than the 2nd. Solid 3-star movie.
What's a word or phrase for a movie that you like but is also totally forgettable?
I refer to them as McMovies.

Awesomely Average
Movie was entertaining but not life changing. Resident Evil takes place in 1996, it is a slight criticism that they put the older firearms and helicopters in the film, but couldn't make a film where the guy pulls out a cell phone every 10 minutes. Speaks a lot about our society. Last act was okay. The subtle visual references to the video games were fun nods. The body horror was over the top.
First I'm hearing of it. Has me torn between my strong opposition to infinite remakes, reboots, and sequels and my desire to watch good horror movies (preferably with props and not CGI).
Big disappointment.
