Good IPS is good enough and 0 flickering.
Got a TCL tv, looks amazing many in my work have the same and agree with me.

Your TCL TV is VA, not IPS
Newer IPS screens actually managed to close the gap almost entirely, to the point where I personally prefer them over most OLED screens. And I used to be a huge OLED fan.
You'll probably never get pure blacks on a non-OLED display, but good LCDs nowadays are so close you'll only notice the difference in a completely dark room. Which I think is more than good enough, considering potential OLED issues that never happen on LCDs.
Also, fuck LG.
I like the last line, they can get bent.
I use a ten year old photography monitor, it's calibrated, and it's good for everything I use it for.
I still have a couple of old IPS monitors with fluorescent backlights. Colors look better on them than most monitors I've seen
Aren't oled screens still very bad for people with sensitive eyes due to pulse width modulation?
Basically all IPS displays use pwm as well. Good panels use higher frequencies so they’re harder to notice. But it’s not the rule.
The cat's response time is much faster with "IPSpspsps"
Just touch a plastic bag or a metal can. I swear, my cats have a speed force connection. And one i suspect is Thawn...he mocks me.
"It was ME, Barry! I shredded the arm of the couch, I knocked the takeout off the counter while you were in the bathroom. I slipped through a seam in the wall to throw up in your slippers inside the closet! It was all ME!"
Look! He learn to write and use the internet and mocks me even here!
Nah that's just a calico and a dilute calico. They're both very cute. Possibly mother and daughter?
OLED displays are capable of showing more vivid blacks, but otherwise you can get damn good pictures out of IPS displays, and honestly I find that if I'm worried about the technical aspects of the picture or display or video signal, than the game or movie I'm watching must be quite mediocre because there were plenty of shows and movies that completely captured me on a 480i CRT.
I first saw Wrath of Kahn on VHS. It wasn't color depth or vertical resolution that made "Of my friend I can only say this: Of all the souls I've encountered in my travels, his was the mO'St...human." such a compelling experience.
If your show, movie, sext message, .swf or whatever doesn't work in 480i60 and 2.0 stereo, I don't want to see it because there's no substance, only spectacle.
In an airplane with an open cockpit and a fairly spicy power plant, I took off at dusk and watched the sun rise in the West as I out-climbed the planet's rotation. You think you can wow me with visual spectacle, whelp? That doesn't work on me, you'll have to use an art vastly more powerful but I fear lost to time: Good writing.
There's still well written stuff being made, it's just that there's so much now that the second you find creatives you like, you memorise their names and follow their work, or you're stuck with whatever an algorithm wants you to see.
You have used some truely awful IPS screens buddy. OLED is nicer but not that much nicer.
And why are those cats not being pet? Pet them you monster.
You'll say that right up until you have one right next to the other on the same desk. That's what I have on my workstation at home, and my (admittedly, rather high end) OLED panel makes the IPS monitor look like cheap newsprint by comparison.
I have 2 IPS monitors, and the older, cheaper one is much better than the other. so it's not just the IPS-OLED difference.
Might be an exaggeration, sure, but the contrast difference between OLED and IPS are very real
My phone and PC monitor are IPS and they certainly don't look washed out compared to my OLED TV. Blacks are just slightly grayer. It's really only even noticeable side by side.
Blacks are only lighter because the backlight bleeds through, but it's very noticeable in a dark room

I feel seen right now.
Moreso TN I think
I like the contrast of OLED but the threat of burn-in outweighs any color improvements over my VA panels. I know you can take measures to greatly reduce that risk, but I just want to use me computer without having to worry about things like hiding my taskbar, man.
So just use the monitor, live life a little instead of being scared of your monitor. I have 2, they're great.
I dont think anyone is scared, some people just value longevity.
I have displays in use that are 15 years old.
My OLED TV is currently 9 years old and has no noticeable burn in. Used for a lot of gaming and video.
I probably wouldn't use it for general PC productivity work though, and tbh isn't suited for it anyway. Odd sub pixel layout for a start, text looked bizarre.
Same, few years short of that though.
Text only looks weird in some apps, mostly windows stuff like word and excel and windows menus... Websites are fine, as are most modern apps.
True.
But OLED cat has a way faster metabolism, you will see it on your cat food bill. And older OLED cats are known to develop a greenish tint.
I would accept TN Vs IPS, but not that
TN really depends on the panel, a good TN rivals IPS without all the defects IPS brings.
OLED has its own problems too, it's bizarre how we havent solved screens yet. Maybe MiniLED will triumph?
Now I have to buy the IPS. Thanks for making me feel bad for it.
Where's Plasma?
TVs don't really need windows, so most basic window managment is typically more than sufficient. Where even then, XFCE is genuinelly amazing, KDE is heavier than it's benefits imo
Gnome out here wishing it had a cat.
C'mon, gnome will make it's own cat, gnome-feline, and it will have 3 legs and you can't choose any colors.
crt cat is better
I have a Retroid Pocket 5 (oled), and an Anbernic RG405M (not oled), and I am finding the latter kind of hard to look.
love my RP5. gives me nostalgic feels of my original PSP (even though it was LCD).

As a person using IPS, I can confirm these cats look the same /j
