Well considering that their federal government is currently being ran by an inveterate liar and his personality cult, that seems reasonable.

Gee I wonder why? They put a serial liar in charge and, here's a shock, everything coming out of the government is absolute bullshit.
And that's after the last guy kept insisting Israel was the good guys when they clearly were not and the economy was doing great when it clearly was not
What economic indicators were not going in the right direction in 2024?
Childhood poverty (arc) for one, but basically any one of like ten million opinion polls from that time could have told you the economy was not working for most people
An uptick, that is, to the tune of nearly 14%. Back in 2021, only about 5% of children lived in poverty — mostly because of a brief expansion in the child tax credit. Congress let it expire after one year.
Restoring that credit would have a profound impact, Hardy said.
Interesting. Did Biden control Congress?
He chose to campaign on the message that the economy was great after signing legislation from Congress that sabotaged it for some of the most vulnerable instead of being honest with the American people about and now we're all suffering the consequences
Again, it very much WAS great. Virtually every metric pointing in the right direction. Especially after recovering from all the disruption due to a worldwide pandemic.
If people thought the Democrats were gaslighting them by highlighting the upside and instead went by the anecdotal while thinking the Democrats did not care that not everyone was doing well, and thought that sitting out or voting Republican was going to help them, then that's their problem.
We are suffering the consequences because many chose to go by vibes instead of data.
Opinion polls
So nothing actually material. Just the random thought of idiots angry about 5 trans people wanting to play sportsball.
Also, when it comes to people's vibes, I'm pretty sure the Biden administration did have people acknowledging their feelings and/or anecdotal situations, while also acknowledging the data about the economy.
If anything, I don't think the Democrats brag enough about their accomplishments, but I know a common trope now is to act like the Biden administration was somehow gaslighting the American people in 2024, just for pointing at the data at the time.
Modern oligarchy works, in part, by fostering apathy and exhaustion in the public. Undermining faith in public institutions is part of that. It's why the president has been insulting his own government's capacities this whole time. Even if his ranting and railing about election cheats isn't based in reality, even if it doesn't produce the kind of court outcomes he pushes for, it establishes a mood. It's not just the rantings of a lunatic, it's a plan, it's a strategy.
And that apathy and exhaustion would be the problem, if they existed in a vacuum. Like if people believed these agencies were inept or actually out to harm us, but they were not.
However, it's true. The government, as it stands now, is actively out to harm its citizens, and is completely incapable of standing up to and defeating the rot as it consumes us all. This is no surprise as it's exactly what the government was set up to do originally, all that has changed is that now the in-group is smaller than the majority of the voting populace.
Looking at your necrotic right arm, and deciding the feather someone gave you is an insufficient tool to save you, is not apathy. My faith in public institutions is not what destroyed them. A successful attack by the wealthiest was.
AP really flexing the muscle of the free press there.
Hey, don’t pull anything AP!
Of all the incredibly damaging things, this is perhaps the most damaging thing
Hopefully their personality cult is cracking now that prices are personally affecting them and they can realize they’ve been lied to for the past decade.
