If you want to watch a horribly depressing SciFi movie I'd suggest the Swedish film "Aniara" (hexbear.net)

I don't want to spoil too much but imagine a really disturbing version of the ship from WALL-E. I genuinely nearly cried at the end.

CW: there's some pretty graphic and disturbing scenes, and lots of nudity.

I'd argue the movie has a small tinge of optimism at the end

Despite everyone on the ship dying, at the very end it does pass a planet that looks like it can host life. So maybe the message is that even if some of us are doomed there is always some hope in the universe.
