Why, because they can't read German or English?

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 8 points 1 hour ago

Because they are angry that they can't get a burger without being EU citizens

[–] Secret_Music@piefed.blahaj.zone 75 points 3 hours ago

Because they're burger citizens.

I was thinking they suddenly have to deal with being “one of the rest” instead of us being subsidiaries of the American Empire, but I like your answer too.

Dang, I like yours too actually. Yours is a little less immature and maybe a little closer to reality 😆

My first time traveling internationally, I was by myself at Gatwick airport. I saw the signs with arrows pointing one way for “UK, Channel Islands, and EU” and another way for “All Other Countries” or something like those. I misunderstood that as being for what your destination was, like people simply connecting in London on their way to some other part of the world, but not leaving the airport, needed to follow the second sign. It was only as I got into the lines that I realized the difference was not the destination but what paper you carried. I think since then in other countries I’ve seen them explicitly include “Passports” on those signs, which is clearer.

In Dutch we call the mayor a burgermeester, which can be literally translated into burger master.

No one will tell me what all this is about--but I will find out.

There were couple of ... um, puppet animators back in the 1970's who did a bunch of holiday specials, Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass. The villain in one of their specials is named Burgermeister Meisterburger.

"To help us reach our goal of releasing Star Citizen from early access within more than 50% of its backers' lifetimes, we've partnered with Burger King..."

"This cooperation allowed us to reach our first $1 trillion funding goal that was necessary to reach the next step of our early access journey."
