I just had the exact opposite problem. Ordered 2, 5lb bags of potatoes. They tried to give me 2 individual ones.

[–] alsimoneau@lemmy.ca 64 points 5 days ago (1 children)

As long as both potatoes are 5lbs, I don't see the problem!

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 20 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Those would be some bigass potatoes.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 19 points 5 days ago

Idaho is path to abilities some would consider... Unnatural.

My gf ordered a bunch of bananas... They gave her 1 banana... I then tried to do a Gwen Stefanie impression singing "this shit is bananas" I was told that was I was being immature though

[–] moondoggie@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You should have apologized and started singing “This shit is banana.”

Holy shit I’m in tears. This is what Reddit used to be

[–] Sturgist@piefed.ca 40 points 5 days ago (10 children)

I've been wanting to switch out the buckwheat husk filling in my pillow. So I ordered £14 of the stuff.....turns out that I now am in possession of enough buckwheat husk to be a heirloom for my descendants to last to the heat death of the universe......

[–] CalypsoGirl@lemmy.today 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They basically sent you an even bigger buckwheat pillow. You could use it as a buckwheat mattress.

[–] Sturgist@piefed.ca 3 points 4 days ago

I'd have to make a new case for it, it's that scratchy plastic.

TIL about buckwheat husk filling in pillows.

[–] Sturgist@piefed.ca 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I really like it, stays cooler longer, is firm but also conforms to the shape of your head and neck a bit

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

What normal pillow filling texture would it compare to?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Imagine the conformity of memory foam with the firmness of dry rice, and you're in the ballpark. There's not really a 1:1 comparison.

It might sound weird but it is super comfortable. It needs to be pretty full though, if it's under-stuffed then it just lacks the support.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What about the sound it makes you move on it?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think it makes a pretty satisfying sound. When you first drop it on the ground it makes a gentle, "clink" sound. When you sit on it it kinda rustles a little.

Then it doesn't really make much noise when you shift around, unless you rearrange the pillow significantly. Once it conforms to your seat it kinda just holds its shape.

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Dang. I might just get it for my next pillow.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

I've never tried it for like a head pillow before so I don't know how comfortable it is for that, but it's great for anything you might sit on like a chair cushion or whatever

It's common in traditional meditation cushions. It gives you a firm seat while still conforming nicely. There's nothing else like it, honestly.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 days ago

If life gives you carrots, make carronade! 🥕

If life gives you carrots, make Gajar ka halwa

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 31 points 5 days ago (6 children)

This once happened to me with Kroger and limes

They subbed 6 limes for 6 bags of limes

As a citrus enjoyer I was not at all stressed though. I'd legit eat a lime straight.

[–] BoosBeau@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago

Oh yeah, well I'd eat a lime gay, so HAH!

[–] MrsDoyle@sh.itjust.works 13 points 4 days ago

Wasted away again in margaritaville....

[–] TammyTobacco@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Lime-aid is the obvious answer

My grandmother did the same thing with potatoes. She accidentally managed to somehow order 220 baking potatoes, for some reason no one at Sainsbury's thought that that was an odd thing to want and didn't question the order and just went ahead and fulfilled it.

[–] M137@lemmy.today 8 points 4 days ago

When life gives you carrots,

[–] blackberry28@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 days ago

I prolly would have asked at the next zoo or farm whether they want free carrots lol

Wait... Who has a apartment building group chat? Am I missing out or that just weird?

[–] kazerniel@piefed.world 9 points 4 days ago (5 children)

We had one in the first building I lived in the UK, it was handy for gossip lol ("what was that screaming last night on the top floor?"). The address was posted on the entrance hall cork board. Ever since I moved from there, I wished that my subsequent buildings/neighbourhoods also had one, but even if one exists, it's deathly silent for months at a time :/

[–] vrek@programming.dev 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The screaming reminded me of one time I was walking my dog around the apartment complex at like 10pm. As I walked by the one building I heard some woman scream from the third floor "oh yeah fuck my pussy papi" at the top of her lungs. I have no idea who screamed or who lived there but I guess she was having a good time.

I think it’s somewhat common, especially for smaller buildings. Mine has one. It’s optional to be part of it, but pretty useful.

I don't know why but lots of people around eastern europe have that either in Viber or WhatsApp, and nothing else. That's where the HOA lead, uhm, does stuff... IDK, I am in a private home.

Even twenty single carrots is a lot to deal with. What was he planning?

Had this happen with big bags of ricola cough drops a ski lodge was giving out for free, my family had enough cough drops for like 15 years

I did something similar with bananas from Fred Meyer when they changed the units for orders from 'banana' to 'bunch'.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

We get mixed deliveries now and then. We recently got a bag of someone else's groceries, and they got a bag of ours. We lost some not very important stuff, but gained a 5 pound bag of pecans, so we made out on this one.
