I like summer because I can wear something skimpy, it's light out, and it's just generally the season people tend to be out doing stuff and having fun. I also love spring.
Winter is the worst. It's too cold, too dark, generally miserable, and everyone just wants to sleep it away. Autumn is fine though

I can wear a t-shirt and shorts pretty much every day without having to look at the weather to know if I need the light jacket, the jacket or the coat, ugh I picked the wrong one, now I'm freezing, or burning to death. Oh crap, I shoulda brought gloves. Where's THE BEANIE... ughhh.... THESE SOCKS ARE TOO DAMN THIN.
For some areas of the country, Spring and Fall is where the real treasure of climate rests.
I like summer, because the heat doesn't really bother my and I'm not perpetually cold.
Ok summers are bad now but man there was something special about walking outside on a sunny day with some of your friends and no plans. Even as an adult, no plans and good weather is a recipe for a good time.
As long as we can do it indoors in air conditioning.
Summer and spring are still the seasons I do fun stuff in. Winter and fall are always filled with misery and catastrophe

Yep! They're go out and do stuff seasons. They're also slutty seasons for those who celebrate. Do you know how hard it is to be slutty in January‽ I've managed it, but it ain't easy. But it's also shit like going for hikes, biking, long nights talking to strangers at bars, and all sorts of other fun stuff.
I do love fall too, but it's a different kind of fun and it has the sadness that winter is coming soon.
Fuck January and February.

Autumn colors are gone, it's wet all the time and the days are getting shorter. It's always cold, there is no fruits to go pick up.
I grew up in the northern part of the USA. Summer is also when we didn’t have to bundle up in 8 layers.
A lot of us like sundress / bikini season.
Spring & fall were generally the planting/harvest season so work was a LITTLE lighter in the summer.
All that said, fuck this heat. I’ll take cold any day.
Hard disagree. In summer plants are doing a lot of cool things as are the insects and all that activity invites many interactions with larger animals also. Whereas in the winter almost everything closes shop and goes dormant which makes invasive ne’er-do-wells like Youngia japonica and Lamium amplexicaule more prominent.
In summer most plants I have are struggling due to lack of water. Far more interesting things going on in spring and autumn.
I live in a rather xeric sandhills environment with blazing sun and this year has had more drought than typical, so indeed a good number of my less well adapted or more poorly positioned plants have been crisping up. Even so, summer is a season of fruiting and growth for many. Ex. partridge pea barely germinates at the end of spring. It was July-early August for it to blossom gloriously, mid-August for the cloudless sulphur caterpillars to appear en masses to devour those blooms and leaves, and at present the caterpillars are undergoing metamorphosis while the partridge pea bereft of blooms now pushes out the eponymous pea pods. Beautyberries have only just now turned their delightful purple color, the black-eyed susans grew in the spring but did not flower until the summer. I can’t take a step anywhere without the grasshoppers fleeing and despite the dry conditions there are tree frogs taking shelter in the shadows of my house’s siding and toads singing, anoles basking in the force of the sun.
Interestingly one of the plants that looks happier is rhubarb. At least the one I planted a few months ago is. I think its size and deep roots help it store more water and get it from deeper soil. So it manages pretty well with watering once a week.
Tree kale also seems to be OK with the lack of water. But it has been eaten by wildlife instead. I had given up on it but after seeing some of them still alive despite not being watered in over a month and the leaves all being eaten way constantly, I decided to try and see if it can be helped. Got netting for it recently and it does look like it is starting to recover and grow some leaves. Probably give it a bit longer and if it does well I might make a more sturdy frame for the netting with a few canes.
Egyptian walking onions might be able to manage but I only got them recently so they haven't really been tested in my area. Pretty sure they would be fine for a week though. Prefer to have things I don't need to water in the week as well as on the weekend.
I think it depends on where you live. I have visited places where summer is the best season. I live where summer is the worst season.

I go fishing so much over the summer. Also, it was a bit cooler weather when I was a kid.
Where I live, winter means:
I hate all those things. I love summer because it’s the opposite.

I HATE the feeling of cold on my skin. Even just a little bit.
100 degrees farenheit? Bring it. I'll take it over being even a little cold.
The heat means I can hang out naked. It means I can jump in the river. I means I can go camping. It means I can do anything but sit inside and freeze my ass off all winter in the darkness.
I only feel complete between May-September.
You know what else sucks? beaches. By most individual metrics they are a shitshow, but when you add all these ngatives together in peoples minds, they end up with a positive impression somehow. Do I want to go sit in sand in full sun, consume sandy food and lukewarm drinks, with limited access to normal amenities, listening to other peoples dipshit music, closely packed together with pasty bloated whale like humans without clothes? No I dont.
Go to better beaches then.
I live near one, never had a problem with being packed in or other peoples music because I just walk along the beach to find a clear area. Its also a gravel beach so no sand.
Insulated water bottles exist. Tbh I don't often bring food with me. Wtf kind of amenities are you expecting. Do you complain about nature not having free WiFi too?

I liked summer back when it was the only season that was tolerable to be outside in as a kid living in the Northeast. Now it's the only season where I live that's intolerable to be outside in so I'm all good on it.
I didn't change. Fucking summer changed. There's a South Pacific hurricane season now. Everyone's talking about climate change like it's a distant threat. The climate has already changed. I whine about it very little because most localities have it way worse than we do in southern California.
I don't mind being hot. I hate being cold.
If you're cold you can always put on another layer. If you're hot, you run out of layers to take off
I like summers as in - long warm sunny days where I can hangout in a t shirt and shorts and do fun outdoor activities for a few months.
I don't like summers as in - If I step outside I'm soaked in sweat immediately and run the air conditioning nonstop to still be kind of warm inside. Where the only enjoyable time was 2 weeks of spring like weather and 2 weeks of fall like weather between brutal winters and summers (I'm exaggerating a little).
Completely disagree. Even if your working and don't have "summers off" like you used too. Summer time weekends heading to the lake, going outdoors for a hike or a picnic. Just generally having the sunshine on you is still far far far better than a winter world that becomes black and white for a few months.
If summer wasn't better than winter in pretty much every way, S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) would be most common in summer instead of winter.
Summer holiday: its probably to hot for school. Winter holiday: its probably too snowy to get to school safely. Easter holiday: go pretend to care about religion instead of school. Autumn holiday: go help your family get ready for winter instead of school.
So time off was never part of the equation.
You saw snow? I’m in my 40s in Southern California, and I can confidently say that I’ve only witnessed snowfall a handful of times before it completely melted away. Throw a snowball for me?
Early Autumn/Late Spring is peak.
The height of any season is (usually) bad.
Spring is my favourite season. When you get the first warm day after a depressing winter and the new leaves are growing and the cherry blossoms are in bloom.
We got summer in spring this year. In fact I think we got summer in winter (February) this year too.
Summer really is the worst.
Here's three months or so where it's so stupidly hot you can't even sleep properly at night, and if you want to go outside you have to smother yourself in goo repeatedly because the sky will kill you. Also there are millions of what are essentially flying dirty syringes who's only purpose is to steal your blood that are seeking you out constantly. And not only do they steal your blood, the place where they stole it from will turn red and itch like crazy for no discernible purpose other than fuck you presumably. You can sort of keep these away by smothering yourself in a second type of goo that's probably poison of some sort.
Good thing we invented housing so we can avoid this right? It would be, except that as soon as it starts everybody seems determined to spend every second of it outside, and becomes fixated on making everyone else be outside too. There also seems to be some connection with sunshine and everyone wanting to be as loud as humanly possible.
I genuinely wish I could just hibernate like a bear through summers lol, as soon as June 1st hits just peace out until September.
I have always hated the whole “it’s summer you must come outside and do things with us right now” thing. I don’t get why you don’t spend time outside all year round. Why is it important now that it’s intolerably hot and bright?
