We actually abolished the tipping model a while ago.

The sweet sound of Gratuity Fee. Ive done a lot of catering in my day. Kinda excited for my tips this week cause we had a big takeout order cause da boss is trying to get into low level catering, its a 30% gratuity and it all goes to the kitchen. Things are actually split up pretty decent where I am. The front of house gets tips for dine in and bar, we get takeout and catering tips as well as a percentage of the sales (i have yet to find out what the percentage is but I have compared it to front of house tips and it ends with us being about even)

I feel like I'm their only hater. For the most part I dont like heavy or aggressive mainstream music, the over production and just...the kinds of bands that are gonna be on majors and have some success all have some pop elements to them that I dont care for in harder music. I like my pop poppy and my aggressive music aggressive. The basis of most of my music taste stems from crust punk. So aside from when they sometimes lack subtext, there is just nothing for me, the lack of subtext is certainly common in what I listen to.
Not like i added them to the daily work rotation or anything. Definitely music for a younger version of myself but it was a nice trip down memory lane
I'll admit to a nostalgia hit when I hear them cause it's what my skate rat friends in jr high listened to along with Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for My Valentine and all manner of early 2000s mainstream metal and I was just finding the deeper underground punk stuff than black flag or operation ivy or whatever. They found my music too noisy i found theres to be 3 Doors Down but with heavier parts. I'm also accustomed to using a lot of hyperbole when discussing music. A lot of people i know are giant music nerds and there is a shared awareness that theres no accounting for taste, so passionate arguments are self aware and just kinda done to make it a fun conversation. I had a 2 hour conversation about how important the great lakes region has been to the history of rock and is constantly overlooked. Detroit is truly Rock City. Motown of course, but MC5, The Stooges, fucking grindcore came from western Massachusetts with Siege. If you've seen high fidelity i'm accustomed to talking about music in a similar way where opinions are heightened in speech cause otherwise there just isnt much to discuss. If you start feeling the hate or love then you can dig into aspects that work or dont passionately. It's not uncommondescribe to a minor disappointment as an unforgivable betrayal and then admit a list of things you did enjoy. Going hard and then backpedalling is crucial. But once again, im mostly in circles that music had ruled their lives to the detriment of all else.
For system of a down, to take byob as an example, sick tune until the chorus imo. Take that pop chorus out and im on board. They have good parts in all of their songs and I think that's what grinds my gears the most. If I just fully dont like a band, its like...cool, not for me, but it's close to what I like but done in a way I dont like and that gets in my craw more. When I can see the different choices that would lead to me digging it. Did you see my links to most of the powerviolence genre in that thread? That's my nu metal. Similar aesthetics but 5 years earlier as well
I like powerviolence too. Found the genre by looking up the first cattle decapitation album that doesn't have any of the current members recorded on it and seeing YouTube comments calling it powerviolence
Cattle Decapitation is great but theyre not powerviolence. Powerviolence sounds like these bands:

Cattle Decapitation comes from the same place and time as powerviolence and are influenced by it for sure but they're deathgrind. Powerviolence is a weird microgenre cause its super similar to grind and has more experimental bands as well as having some strict aspects that define it. It was a joke name made up by thr drummer for the band Neanderthal for ehat they were doing and then became a name for a particular scene around the west bay in California in the early 90s where it was mostly through personal than musical association that it was defined and then later people decided it was bands that sounded like any of those west coast bands even if they sound different. There are common musical aspects for the most part. Man is the Bastard is the weird exception that launched 1000 ships, so powerviolence is like, 3 hyper specific things all at once.

The first Cattle Decapitation album is still death grind. More grind than death but still.
This dude can fill you in on the musical differences. Culturally theyre on the grind team, grind is a punk subgenre and always will be.
