6 challenge run gives you 3.8 score multiplier. If you have finished a run with score >263k, you need to do it again with some challenges. Easy!
Did you expect to achieve this when you started playing?
No, I started playing just to kill some time during commutes. My first "serious" goal was to ascend, then ascend with every character etc. Took long breaks between every major milestone and had to relearn the rules every time. At some points I realized I only have maybe 2 badges missing.
How long did it take you to get these?
Not sure, because I wasn't actively trying. I started playing around three years ago but I take frequent long breaks. My first successful 6 challenge run was about a year ago. Not sure about 3 challenge run but definitely had some in 2024 and before that I was playing on a different device.
Recently I started playing again and realized I have some badges missing. Filling my journal was the last.
Hello, i have been trying 6 challenges and I’m struggling a lot. I can manage hunger by not eating until I’m 5 hp but I don’t regenerate so and I die. I also struggle with ‘faith is my armor’ any tips? (PS: I would say I’m advanced, I know how pathing etc and play huntress, but I’m still struggling.)
For hunger: it's okay to eat sooner. Instead of saving food focus more on trying not to waste turns, which often means picking your fights, leaving equipment behind instead of going back to sell etc.
Faith is my armor: try not get hit, think about positioning, don't get yourself surrounded. As a warden: bow is great but it doesn't have to be your only weapon, especially in the beginning you won't be able to kill all the crabs with 0-2 damage shots. Use grass and plants.
Did you know that 99.7% of players die holding onto equipment that could save them?
Well. I’m taking 90% of that percentage, I love hoarding and I don’t like letting any precious item on the ground. But yeah I’m getting better at positioning but I’m just a bit annoying. I like fighting everyone on the floor so I can relax. But that info about Hunger is pretty surprising. I’m used go hoard my food until I’m like 10-5 hp.
It's important to realize that consumables are called that for a reason. If you don't use them they are just dead weight in your inventory. It's better to use that food/scroll/potion than to die with a full bag.
How many games have you played? I don't care about ratio, just total
With current install, around 1000. My ratio sucks because 1. I no longer go for the optimal path and 2. I'm not a good player
I'm about 1000 games or more too. Mostly because of 2.
Can I get your tier list of characters?
What about for weapons?
S: the one you're currently playing
trash: the one you're not playing right now
IMO it doesn't make much sense to compare characters in terms of power. My goal is not to choose the best character but to choose a character and do my best with what I got.
About weapons, again, depends on a run. It helps to not think about it as a weapon but as a tool to solve a specific situation. Best weapon is useless if you can't deal with a scorpio that's running away from you. Does it mean that 1 blinding dart > vampiric scythe +10?
Edit: if you're looking for a strong character to attempt challenges I'd recommend duelist->champion because of how many options you get with weapon abilities.
Moreso wanted to see what a genuinely good player thinks on the matter.
I'm SOOOOOOOOO bad with the melee guys (Warrior + Duelist). Just something about what I need to be doing with them doesn't click. I'm decent with Mage and I've had success with Rogue, but Huntress is the only one I can semi-consistently win with. I'm currently banging my head against making the Cleric work for me. I can usually make it to Dwarven Halls, but last two runs was sniped by a Dwarf Mage that I couldn't even see during killing blow.
I think the big thing is food. Huntress and Rogue get perks with extra food early on which is just enough to help me get my power to a steady state with extra exploration. Mage + Soul Eater is that on overdrive, even if it comes later.
For challenges, I've only ever had success with Bladder Bosses, Barren Land, and Swarm Intelligence (and any combination of those). Literally every other challenge, and I am dead before Boss 1.
Gonna disagree with your take on weapons, though not sure mine is going to be the best. I can't stand slow weapons (spear, glaive), so never equip them. Same for inaccurate (sickle, scythe). I generally prefer accurate (Warhammer, handaxe) over fast (scimitar, sai) over high blocking (shields) over low blocking (quarterstaff, katana), with everything else below that. Wands almost always are preferable to thrown weapons (esp since we can't put comparable weapons into the same stack anymore)(also obv depends on wand - I'll take throwing clubs over a base wand of corruption most days).
Would love feedback on my takes on weapons. And advice on how to better drive characters.
I honestly don't think I'm good; I often die for stupid reasons.
Regarding melee, but also a general tip: try to identify your mistakes. When you die, take a mental note on what you did wrong and try to implement a strategy to deal with the enemy next time. Died to a crab for 10th time in a row? Maybe it's worth to spend SoU on your armor before level 3. In case of melee characters and Dwarf Mages, you need way to make them stop casting - hidine behind a corner, door, and let them come or close the distance (pull them with chains or blind them or stun with an elastic weapon, sneak on them with invisibility, create grass between you and the mage etc).
I remember hunger being a problem at first until it just stopped. I think making good use of your turns is the main part. Don't walk around waiting for enemies to spawn. Don't wear armor that slows you down. Don't lick walls trying to find that one hidden room. And in most cases it's not worth to sleep to regen your health. If you need extra food, combine honey and health potions, buy rations or kill fish (you'll need a good ranged weapon).
Slow/inaccurate weapons are great -- but not for everyone and you need to know how to mitigate their issues. Spear has range and damage so you often don't even notice the problem with speed because enemies die so fast. You'll need accuracy for that so don't try wielding a spear if you lack strength, but an early +1 spear is a blessing (just be careful during the first boss fight, again timing and positioning are keys). Later in the game you need to learn how to manage distance (build it for melee enemies, close for mages and scorpios). Upgraded elastic glaive can give you an easy win. Inaccurate weapons are for surprise attacks. Use doors, colums and grass. Great for assassin because you're supposed to always surprise attack, also good for cleric (easy hits thanks to spells) and duelist (abilities). Fast weapons are great for gladiator or paladin or when you have a specific enchantment you want to proc.
