I really enjoyed Brand New Day, about as much as I liked No Way Home which is a lot.
But I still think the Raimi trilogy is the best version of Spider-Man onscreen, especially after rewatching all three after seeing BND.
It's also damn near a perfect trilogy of movies, in that it pays off everything that it sets up and doesn't leave any questions unanswered.
I adored the nostalgia factor of seeing Tobey and Andrew in No Way Home, but the general premise of that movie is unforgivably absurd. I maintain that the first two Raimi movies are the best overall complete packages, Andrew Garfield's Peter and Spider-Man are the best versions of both sides of the character, and MCU Spider-Man up to BND are good fun but just awful as Spider-Man stories.
It's been over 5 years since I read through the whole Amazing series, but BND felt the most like an 80s-era, street-level Spidey story I've seen on screen. Spidey's emotional descent, the tone of mystery, the movie's willingness to be (relatively) quiet and tense, and (most obviously) the presence of Jean DeWolff made it feel very reminiscent of the 'Death of Jean DeWolff.' There was a point while watching it I would have bet Daredevil was going to make an appearance.
I'll have to see it again, but I think it might be at the top of my list now.
