Yeah I started watching Invincible and it was pretty neat

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Oh do tell ? Im a big fan . Read the OG comics back when the first season aired. I actually prefer the cartoon.

I only saw the first episode, but so far it's pretty interesting. I don't usually go for this kind of superhero stuff so it's weird that I'd like it so we'll see how long it lasts heh

Like american suburbia and superheroes are my least favourite genres, why am I liking this?

If you can stomach it I would recommend to watch the first season. After that you kind of know what to expect. The most recent season Nr.4 I thought was really strong as well but it does have some weaker episodes here and there.

I think its overall an adaptation that elevates the strong if outdated source material.

EDIT- Some folks critique the animation but I thought its fine and they do put in work into some of the more important moments of the story.

Finnaly went to see the Odyssey! Way better than I expected

I rewatched all of the hungry games movies as i hadn’t seen them in ages. They’re solidly ok

[–] average@hexbear.net 2 points 5 days ago

My life is a hungry game.

New Ghost in the Shell animation is so killer but the story is so hard to follow.

Most of the new season of My Adventures With Superman, it's still good

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Ooh, I like superman and havent heard of it. What's the show like?

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

It is my favorite incarnation of Superman.

Nearly the first thing he does is rescue a cat from a tree.

Somebody at DC figured out that Superman is actually a Mahou Shoujo and it fits perfectly.

Like the version from the recent James Gunn movie? I want to see this show.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago

If you like Gunn Superman, you will also like My Adventures With Superman.

The show's versions of Lois and Jimmy are a lot of fun, too.

Torrents are well seeded, and the final episode of season 3 should be coming out today.

Creature Commandos. Pretty slick animation.

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I should have watched that already deeper-sadness

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Why are you sad? Now you get to watch it?

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

No time to watch. Gotta work 9to5... Im jkn somewhat.

I suffer from the luxury problem of having too many things to watch :3

[–] average@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago

I watched Chain Reaction this weekend, the Keanu Reaves vehicle. It’s exactly what I should expect out of a 90s action/thriller.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

It's good to see representation of kink through fantasy and play. Some touching scenes though I wish it was longer. I found it a little bit grabby with the references but I prefer it over TV glow.

[–] BattleshipPokemon@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Is it worth seeing in the cinema? I'm thinking about going sometime in the week

[–] h0ll0w5p4c3@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

I see going to the cinema as a luxury and film being so subjective, I can't answer that question for you.

I would say watch the TRAILER and see if it interests you enough.

I can tell you a little extra which may help. I would recommend it to someone who likes 80s slasher films, it's got a lot of meta elements. What you'll see in the movie is pretty run of the mill but is probably still a little spicy for mainstream audiences (I've read more spicy stuff). I have seen all of Jane Schoenbrun's previous films, so if you're familiar with any of those you may enjoy this one. I see it as their best so far.

There's a place near me that does £4 tickets for young people so sometimes i just go in on a whim to watch movies by myself, i think I'll check it out

[–] h0ll0w5p4c3@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago

That's a pretty good deal, I hope you enjoy it ദ്ദി(>ᴗ•)

They Live by Night and In a Lonely Place, I'm going through the old Nicholas Ray film noir stuff

Just finished watching Bodies which is really good and now watching The Alienist.

I love detective slop.
