I'm still haunted by the realization that conservatives want hierarchy. They want underclasses. Even when they're not the top! They don't want free health care because then the wrong sort of people will get it!

They're bad people! It's not about "cost" or market efficiency or anything else they say.

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 days ago

This is why when people post anti-right wing messages they don't realize it's not the right angle

Wrong angle: they only want the top class to access health care

Right angle: most Americans cannot afford to see doctors

This is because they read the message and think "hell yeah fuck em [derogatory word]s"

To address far right people. You ALWAYS have to frame it in a way where it's about THEMSELVES.

It's the same thing with anti-left wing messages. You'll see fox News going "antifa wants more of our tax dollars to feed children". It's like ....hell yeah.

People on the left have a belief that society should benefit everyone. No one should suffer from too little when someone has excess. It's a pretty basic tenet of progressive belief.

People on the right vote like they don't believe in society at all. They vote like everyone should fend for themselves and fuck the rest. Then they complain when their government benefits get cut and the prices get too high because it wasn't supposed to be them that got fucked. They weren't supposed to be the "rest."

I don't think they understand that progressive policies are intended to help the most racist piece-of-shit MAGA fuckwits as much as anyone else. They only want to have it better than someone, ANYONE else, so they aren't at the bottom rung.

Yeah, well you see, they are in the middle of said hierarchy , they are happy being in the middle of the hierarchy, they just don’t anyone else to climb the ranks

20% are predisposed to this kind of thinking and they make up the bulk of fascists.

Remember when Jesus freed the slaves of Jerusalem? What a badass section of the Bible

Oh wait no that never happened. In fact, Jesus never even spoke negatively about slavery.

Bummer.

But sure, I guess other than completely ignoring the concept of owning a person in the same way you own oxen, he really wanted everyone to care about one another.

Sounds like Christianity to me. No fucking way. Not in this country. Never

[–] huppakee@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Do you mean the Christianity inside or outside the US? Because to me this does not in anyway sound like US Christianity. Maybe a little bit their preaching, but surely not their actions.

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (11 children)

I mean the Christian community that has provided love and support for my family.

This is what the bible promotes. But to be fair it also promotes a lot of things that are less palatable, like stoning you to death for wearing clothes of two different fabrics.

However, Christianity in the US has largely (not entirely) been overtaken by the "prosperity gospel" where if you're rich and healthy, that means you're a good person because God provided for you and if you're poor or sick, well, God must not love you, therefore bad person.

Also the bible has so many contradictions in it that you can basically put out whatever message you want by cherry picking passages. No idea if that's by design or not.

Maybe if we manage to frame it as judaism....??

THAT'S COMMUNISM AND MOSLIM EMPANADA

Make wise political choices but don't heroicize a politician, this universally leads to disappointment.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 5 points 5 days ago

Especially helping the wrong kind of people!

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Conservatives think all three things are bad because they think it will cost them money.

It's not exactly a secret when the DNC chair said a year ago when Mamdani won his primary that we need more progressive charismatic candidates like him...

Like, it's only sneaky if you get all your news from social media or billionaire owned corporations.

Otherwise is blatantly obvious this has been the strategy

I don't know of any single person who actually use threads, write the fucking thing yourself and don't give them ads. Stop upvoting this format.
