Honestly? All of them.
Since I've stopped watching trailers / reading synopses etc. my enjoyment of most any movie has shot up exponentially
Ive never watched trailers. They ruin the movies. Especially now.
Agreed. If I don't want to watch a movie I'll just watch the trailer to get a summary of the entire dang plot

If you can manage it, the Matrix was absolutely amazing the first time. We had no idea what we were going to see except someone from work said it looked good. After it was done we were leaving the theater and saw that the next showing didn't have a line, so we went again.
Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. I went in thinking it was a martial arts flick and was pleasantly surprised while not being incorrect.
1973's Day of the Jackal.
1974's The Conversation.
I swear I've heard of the Day of the Jackal 10 times by now! I don't mean in a bad way :) Either the book or movie, I see it being suggested often in the topics I'm interested in. Might be a sign to finally watch it!
There was a new series sometime in the recent past so maybe that got some attention to the older ones.

From Dusk Till Dawn really does not have the same impact if you know anything at all about the movie. Which is sort of a challenge for a 30-year-old franchise with three movies and a tv series
So if anyone is reading this who doesn't know anything about the 1996 movie and you don't mind a bloodbath, I highly recommend you watch it. Right now if you can
When I was in college, I got to show this movie to someone who had never heard of it. I'm so glad I got to see their reaction when they figured out what the movie is about.
It truly is a rare treat. I caught it for the first time on late night tv
It's one of those movies that I wish I could completely forget about so I could experience it as a first time again

The one from 1997, not the 2007 US remake.
Event Horizon
I watched it earlier in the year with a huge misconception to what it is but highly recommend.
Also any Wes Anderson film because it's going to some eccentric wonder and the less you know the better.

Funnily enough, the twist in The Village didn't work on me - for some reason, the situation as it was is exactly what my mind had assumed was the case, so when it was revealed it didn't actually register as "the twist" and for the entirety of the movie, I I kept expecting something else to be the twist. It wasn't until after the movie was over, and it was discussed with family, that I realized that the "discovery" wasn't what everyone else had automatically assumed to be the case by default, and so everyone else in attendance had been shocked by the information.

The obvious answer for a question like this is often a movie with some kind of big twist - which does make a recommendation pretty hard if you want to preserve the surprise of the twist.
In an alternate vein, I think horror movies have a lot of potential here. I used to have a subscription to Shudder, and watching old horror movies I had never seen was a special kind of experience. Ditto for anything that describes itself as a "mind-bending psychological thriller" or anything psychedelic
For a specific recommendation, I'm going with Blood Beat (1983). Although even if I didn't go in blind I probably would have found it just as weird
Ah the initial knowledge of a movie having a twist is not an issue for me because when I usually get movie recommendations I add them in a big list and by the time I get to watch them I forget that the movie is supposed to have a twist. Thank you for your recommendation!

I agree that going into all movies blind is best, there are specific types that are best to be blind. I'd say movies where the ending is the biggest plot point like those with twist endings, mysteries, and maybe tragedies. In a romcom or adventure movie, there's a good chance you may already know the outcome. The couple end up together or good overcomes evil. But those movies are enjoyable even if you can predict the outcome. For mysteries or twist endings, if you already know the ending then the journey towards it is less enjoyable.
Other movies that are good going in blind are ones that are so out there part of the fun is watching what makes it so different.
That said, here are the list of movies I think would be great to go in blind:
- Old Boy (the 2003 Korean one)
- Memento
- Everything Everywhere All at Once
- Fargo
- Shutter Island
Titan AE and Atlantis: The Lost Empire for some good classics.
Oh, ans Treasure Planet too.
Los Cronocrimenes (Timecrimes) if you like time travel and haven't come across this little gem yet.
The Kid Detective.
One Cut Of The Dead.
The first 30 minutes are horribly bad acted and are a pain to sit through, but pay attention. Then comes the pay off. And it's extremely funny and so well put together!
