I mean honestly? As a developer, yeah that tracks. We do stuff like that, too. Not exactly this thing, but we have raw logging we can look at as part of a support inquiry.

Of course this being Microsoft there's a good reason people immediately assume the worst, but at face value this seems to be a reasonable explanation. I had a look in the directory and the files in there are all just text summaries of various diagnostics, like which process prevented sleep states the most etc. Makes sense.

If you care so much about "spying" then a Microsoft OS is not the right OS for you; you need a system that can be verified to not spy on you, which excludes all closed source OS, regardless of make.

I personally ditched windows because i didn't want to upgrade my very capable PC just that i can install Windows 11 - I would have had to swap out my mainboard or at least get myself a TPM module. I can't see the necessity for this, especially that windows 11 still runs fine without TPM. Also, the feeling that my OS would really,really like to be an advertising platform that limits what i can do to maximize profits was already overwhelming with windows 10 and only got worse with 11.
