Well hey America has some wind farms so a broken clock or whatever I don't even know anymore.

[–] BeN9o@lemmy.world 29 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I wouldn't normally be pedantic, but because its him, I feel compelled to say, its wind turbine, not windmill, they do 2 different jobs.

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 20 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Maybe he actually does mean windmill and really hates the Dutch.

[–] Mokopa@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I presumed this is what he meant, because who mixes them up? And, he's that kind of person, who would slate a nation for having history and culture.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

everybody whose not an engineer will call them windmills at least on occasion. Which is fine. i'm sure somebody somewhere is grinding flour with the electricity they produce.

[–] BeN9o@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

I wouldn't put it past him tbf, he's quite a hateful person.

[–] vzqq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago

To be fair, only a small proportion of Dutch wind mills are actual mills. Most are wind-pumps.

[–] stumu415@lemmy.zip 27 points 5 days ago (3 children)

This clown even claimed that China has no windmills. China has more wind and solar capacity than any other country in the world with twice as much capacity under construction than the rest of the world combined.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

To be fair, considering he aggressively tries to not learn things, he wouldn't have known.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

He doesn't need to learn things, he just knows them. Like how dumb has a B at the end....

[–] uniquethrowagay@feddit.org 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Wait, do people without dementia call wind turbines wind mills? I'm not a native speaker

[–] addie@feddit.uk 2 points 4 days ago

I'm a native speaker and quite likely to refer to them as windmills. Real windmills are basically museums now, everyone will know what you mean. Although the slightly coarsely-ground flour from the one near ours does make truly delicious bread.

as with everything, per capita is incredibly important… australia has twice the per capita renewable capacity as china… US is actually only about 100w/capita behind china (about 15%)

china just has a massive population, so you’d expect their government to necessarily build more power - which is to say nothing about their industrial capacity which, again, necessitates a larger total capacity

per capita or renewables mix is far more relevant than total capacity

none of that is a dig at china of course: they’re still doing better than most countries! but let’s not hold them up as a shining beacon when they’re just doing better than average. we can find better examples of success to copy

Why is this stupid pedophile still alive?

[–] Marthirial@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Thanks to Mitch, death is no longer a deterrent to stay in power; don't give him ideas.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space -5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's hard to find a smarter leader in that country

[–] Inucune@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

He's still pissed off that a wind farm is visible from one of his sea-side golf resorts. I don't recall if it is one that went bankrupt or not.

[–] dudeface@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I saw a shit load of wind turbines in Texas

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

One time I ate a hallucination paper or two at a concert. I noticed on the 2 hour drive back that all the windmills across the horizon had a blinky red light on top and all of those lights blinked at the same time. I hope anyone who doesn't appreciate the blinky red lights on top of windmills has a painful and drawn out death.
