An oppressor doesn't become more acceptable because their dead especially when the harm they caused is still around.

Many years ago my parents had a neighbor. He was a nice guy but annoying as all hell at times, so much so that my mom purposely avoided him at the pool. If she saw him she’d go out of her way to walk around to the side of the pool and be sure to not get in the water when he was in there. She spent months not being able to say 1 remotely decent thing about him.

Then he died unexpectedly of a heart attack. And suddenly, according to her, he was the nicest person she knew, always so friendly and loved chatting with him, etc etc.

I straight up called her out on it.

I have posted this photo earlier...

It is a collection of small bottles of rum, all but one dedicated to a person, and when I no longer has to share my existence in this world with the person, I will toast in celebration!

Also, I have decided to treat my family to a celebration dinner at a nice restaurant when Trump falls over and stops being a problem.

I have some 25yo Scotch waiting

You might want to change it out for some 12 year old scotch. It would be more appropriate.

The rightmost one is Orban. Not sure who the other one is.

"Good. I'm glad he's dead."

In terms of raw number of people partying, it'll be the most widely celebrated death of all time. So far.

The line to piss and shit on his grave is gonna be hella long.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 12 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

They're going to have to hide it or it will be an endless stream of vandalism.

The site of Adolf Hitler's death, and of his first grave, is now a non-descript parking lot for a non-descript apartment block. This was done for exactly the opposite reason: To prevent any site from becoming a locus of commemoration.

But I certainly see your reasoning for Mr. Trump. I wonder how many people are actually there for Trump himself? How many would stick with him when he doesn't have the power to get them something?

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

What they should do is announce Hitler's grave. And whenever people go there for worship or whatever...it's open game on those people. Because the only good Nazi....

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 1 points 58 minutes ago

I don't think Hitler has a single place that is a permanent grave.

After he shot himself, his Nazi friends buried him and his wife in about 1 foot of dirt in the garden outside the bunker. (This is the place that is today a parking lot for an apartment block). The Soviet Red Army exhumed that grave within a few days and cremated the bodies and scattered them so as to not create any single place that could become a focal point for future neo-nazi movements.

I am required to note that this article concerns the site of Hitler's birth, not of his death.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The piss would be an improvement to the soil after putting the body down there.

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 4 points 2 hours ago

Pissing on Trump's grave would actually just be playing into his kink. Telling people to stop pissing would be kink shaming.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I say we put garlic round his neck and a stake in his heart to ensure he never comes back.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

And just for good measure, have someone shit on his grave every 3 to 6 hours.

I'll gladly eat nothing but Taylor Farms lettuce for a week before that pilgrimage. Get a nasty case of trumporrhea to shit all over his grave

Bullhorns and bicycles at MAGA events "Why are you mourning a pedophile?!"

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 1 points 12 minutes ago

Well you can ask them right now why they support a children rapist.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Then please don't be angry at those not celebrating. I fear what will happen next even more.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Reminds me of Hitchens' critique of the 10 commandments .

"Honor thy father and mother" only works if yours are worth honoring. Talk to a social worker and you will find some parents that truly truly should not be honored.

That was supposed to mean if they managed to raise you to adulthood, you don't abandon them because they could still contribute to the community.

Mostly thru childrearing, keeping watch while others slept, and passing on knowledge and skills.

Not to mention a long difficult life likely making them plan long term and only the most risk adverse surving. Coupled with lowered hormone levels as we age and they're supposed to be the calm rational ones in the room.

A lot of the problems with Christianity was/is really problems with feudual Europe and how they twisted the religion to get the masses to tolerate wealth inequalities. In this case they they used the phrase to make people confirm to hierarchical roles. If ever man was king of his own castle, it gave him an outlet to take out his frustrations. The wife took hers out on the kids. And back then people stopped being kids at like 9 or 11 because it fucking sucked.

Couple years later and the cycle repeated

And it should be obvious today's oligarchs want to return to those times rather than progress from them.
