Rules:
A coworker had AI produce an image of business people climbing a ladder. The woman was above a man in the ladder, but one of his hands was on her butt. I couldn't help think that AI is totally sexist and it manifests in such weird ways.
I mean it's racist too. Is anyone surprised? It was trained on the internet.
It pulls from existing information - of course it's going to be biased against women. Literally using places like Reddit to aggregate information and we're shocked it's not unbiased?? Hahahaha
I think people are more shocked the world is biased. Who knew?? Not all women, that's for sure.
Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. This also can be applied to every other toxic bias. Feed the machine what everyone is saying and any idea that is remotely widespread is going to be reinforced.
It's also a feedback loop which will necessarily stifle innovation at least in some ways.
More specifically, theyre trained on a lot of online content and probably weighs the value of content based on its engagement. And topics like the earth being round and women are just as amazing as men are just topics that don't get as much attention as flat earth conspiracies and sexist bullshit. I don't think LLMs are programmed to be moral or even correct - they are programmed to be believed. I wish a had a more positive take than this.
There is nothing more unempowering to feminism than a depressing top layer issue like AI.
The article even addresses it and then just doesn't get it... Okay, fine. Attack AI like it's an intelligence. Go gurl, and stuff!

I don't think you read your own article. Unless you're referring to the workforce segmentation part? Even though the article does not identify that as a primary issue and it's unrelated to the outputs of genAI.
I read everything I post. I was referring to your comment in relation to the thesis of the article, which is why I quoted a term you used.
The thesis at of the article is the same stance as Meta. Blaming AI for problems caused by the past, while also acknowledging the past, but continuing to blame AI.
It is like dangling a low hanging fruit in front of feminism in an effort to distract its energy from what it usually represents. It is undermining and insulting. Women are not that dumb.
