It pulls from existing information - of course it's going to be biased against women. Literally using places like Reddit to aggregate information and we're shocked it's not unbiased?? Hahahaha

I think people are more shocked the world is biased. Who knew?? Not all women, that's for sure.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. This also can be applied to every other toxic bias. Feed the machine what everyone is saying and any idea that is remotely widespread is going to be reinforced.

It's also a feedback loop which will necessarily stifle innovation at least in some ways.

More specifically, theyre trained on a lot of online content and probably weighs the value of content based on its engagement. And topics like the earth being round and women are just as amazing as men are just topics that don't get as much attention as flat earth conspiracies and sexist bullshit. I don't think LLMs are programmed to be moral or even correct - they are programmed to be believed. I wish a had a more positive take than this.
