Is it really that hard to say “I was wrong about Platner. I’m sorry.” ? That’s all you need to say. You don’t need to self flagellate unless you want to and you especially don’t need to act like people were wrong to judge Platner earlier like Ken does in this article.

Writing off all the earlier stuff as “the most Maine shit ever” just makes it look like people from Maine are assholes. It also excuses Platner’s toxic behavior as “boys will be boys”

I think what pisses me off most about Platner and anyone trying to defend his earlier shit is that this is a repeat of Biden in ‘24. Another man who thinks he’s entitled to lead is actually unqualified and has wasted everyone’s time, money, and energy. And a bunch of people put winning an election over doing what’s best for the country.

If Republicans hold the senate expect to get an even more hard right Supreme Court (or at least maintain the status quo) as they try to solidify power before ‘28. So thanks for that Graham Platner.

I mean we have had it out of the horse's mouth he has committed war crimes, like firing mortars on crowds of people, and getting caught, having the mortar firing platform taken away, and then rigging a rocket launcher to continue firing mortars on people. Again, this is a war crime he admits to committing, getting caught, then working around the penalty to continue committing war crimes. This should have been more than enough to kick his ass out of the running.

I guess allegation from white people are much more serious than war crimes committed against Afghani's.

You have a source for this? Is it from his reddit comments?

Whats the uh.. whats the purpose in pinning this?

Totally get the first part, but with a fast moving story, the klippenstein article, while, good, and frankly, I think more how we should approach these issues.. I guess it already feels out of date and less relevant with the news of the past several hours? Or maybe, I suppose for pinned items I've seen those as more typically "megathread" type content, or "just the facts ma'am" type reporting, but not necessarily editorials, like this one from Ken.

Either way, obv your call, it just seems a bit out of place and less relevant considering we just had a few major twists in the story this afternoon/ evening.

I haven’t been watching the news, I was watching Batman Forever, I haven’t heard anything since he dropped out.

I mean that is the news. Along with the announcement from Maine Democrats about the insider process. An article about either would seem more relevant to pin.

Found one, things are getting crazy.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

Yeah. Especially after Platners video, basically denying the allegation in its entirety (which if it is true, he'll be cooked in front of a judge), and throwing insider Dem's under the bus...

THEN to go with the most insider of all insider processes... with super delegates to boot...

I think the issue for Klippenstein's argument is that some of these red flags while certainly far less bad than rape are pointing to Platner being the type of guy who would rape someone. So I do think people who were willing to really go to bat defending those things should probably think on that. I don't think this means they were bad people but they might have some blind spots is all.
