At least the rich assholes of the past went on Safaris and cruises around the Aegean and shit.
These fuckers become even richer than those guys and just post on twitter and monitor their son's masturbation.
I guess you sort of have that with the space obsession but it's less about being an explorer and more about opening up new avenues for profit.
Wasn't European exploration funded as an avenue to find more profit tho?
People have life-changing trips on an $8 hit of acid. Imagine what happens when an amount of money that broadens the range of options almost infinitely does to someone.
Forget that, what happens when someone uses cheats in Grand Theft Auto? How soon do they get sick of it? How quickly do they do the absolute worst things the game allows them to do? What if there weren't the limitations of the game? It has to be mind-breaking to chase things almost no one else on the planet has the opportunity to do, and still have to one-up yourself.
Yes but only so they can be eternally damned
i sometimes wish i was religious so that i could console myself with this.
Husks, no question. If there was ever a chance they had any decency, it died in them a long time ago.
I just finished reading Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams, a former high up at Facebook between 2011 and 2017. I am firmly convinced that they do not have souls, decency, any shred of morality or kindness. There was another book i read a while back, Jackpot that also talked about the effects of money on peoples behaviour, from "few hundred grand in the lottery" to "overnight millionaire bc of tech stonks", and it came to similar conclusions about how money makes people worse people and often less competent in general
This article has antichina brainworms (much like Wynn-Williams herself) but does a good job of summarising the book, as well as confirming that she does have receipts for her major claims
I don't think anyone have soul. They just have lost or maybe never had everything that is good about humanity.
souls aren't real anyway, but capitalists lose or under-develop their humanity. it ought to be classified as a mental illness, and the treatment would be confiscation of their money and other property.
unfortunately they run society.
No
Plenty of Souls from all their kills, but they've long since lost all Humanity, and gone Hollow
