If his relationships to the people close to him are a train wreck, Musk’s relationship with the public isn’t much better. As the years go on, it’s become clear that he badly wants to be seen as cool, funny, and popular, and yet the harder he tries to win everyone’s admiration, the less cool he becomes. Lately, his public antics just exude a desperate, sweaty energy that makes him painful to watch.

There was the godawful “let that sink in” joke that he used to announce his arrival to Twitter’s headquarters, carrying a physical porcelain sink; the stupid X-shaped jumping jack he kept doing for a while, apparently to resemble the logo of “X the Everything App”; the cowboy hat incident; the photo he posted of his bedside table with a huge gun and four cans of Diet Coke on it; the poem (Maybe religion’s not so bad / To keep you from being sad). In his comprehensive, largely flattering biography, Walter Isaacson writes that Musk’s “jokes tended to be filled with smirking references to 69, other sex acts, body fluids, pooping, farts, dope smoking, and topics that would crack up a dorm room of stoned freshmen.” (More like a classroom of sixth-graders.)

[It seems that writing a methodical analysis of all the cringey things Elon Musk has done is such a odyssean feat that you begin to sound like James Joyce in your run on lists disguised as sentences that never end...]

At one point, Musk admitted that he pays other people to play video games for him, so he’ll quickly get the highest scores and levels and Twitch streamers will see him as a “living god of video games.” For him, the point is not to enjoy the games, but to acquire whatever token or icon marks you as having won them, and thus earn the admiration of nerds who watch livestreams all day. And he couldn’t even get that, because when Musk attempted to stream himself playing Path of Exile 2 last year, the audience trolled him relentlessly, posting “YOU HAVE NO REAL FRIENDS AND WILL DIE ALONE” over and over in the chat box. But just caring about this kind of thing in the first place is the pathetic part, and apparently no amount of money can fix that.

You can tell he is clearly a lonely and insecure man. There is a set of pictures that went viral of him in his college dorm released by his ex-girlfriend. He was hanging out with friends and said ex-girlfriend. His smile in those pictures had been the most genuine you could ever see from him. Nowadays, he just force himself.

He’s the pedophile criminal immigrant welfare queen the right always hysterically warned about

I lowkey owe Musk for finding my way here. I was on Reddit and there was a post about his trillion dollar milestone. I posted a comment…”Is it time to eat him yet?”. And got my 10 year old account perma banned. I like it much better here already. So…IS it time to eat him yet? I guess you do so at risk of getting very high when he “kicks in”.

[–] spirinolas@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

OK. I get what you mean. But I'm not touching that shit. Put it in my toilet directly, it will fit right in.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 19 hours ago

Yep. In my completely unbiased opinion most of humanity is feeling pretty much done with this, and that's why the oligarchs are counting on AI.

I don't know about the safety of those kind of secondhand levels of HGH and ket

[–] brave_lemmywinks@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Kind of incredible how we all have a story like that from Reddit. Their new policy must be hemorrhaging active users.

As for Musk, 1 trillion is a meaningles number, it's like saying he has infinity + 1 money's.

The comments are garbage compared to a few years ago. It’s either overrun with bots or more dumb normies (a la YouTube comments) than before.

[–] RabbitMix@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I never had any issues with getting banned, but I wasn't using their shitty app, so I left.

[–] BoneheadBruin@pawb.social 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Same, after switching to browser only for a while I finally left when they removed /r/all. It is now basically impossible to discover new communities without explicitly searching for the subject.

Yep, reddit.com/r/all just redirects you to your default front page now. The new "best" sorting (which replaces Hot as the default) is equally as sinister as it tries to feed you an infinite scroll of always new content you've never seen rather than just what's currently popular. This further allows them to control your content via algorithm rather than what's actually busy at the moment.

Active non-robot users.

[–] Jessicat@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I believe so too. I was a daily user and got shadow banned in the last month for saying fuck off. They don’t even bother telling you you’re blocked so they can avoid having to justify it. It’s baffling how they think they’ll have any humans left soon.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I got banned just by updooting Luigi posts. Fuck reddit.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's Reddit. You can be banned for saying, "Good morning".

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 2 points 1 day ago

I hadn't heard that one. What a bunch of looney tunes.

[–] terranoid@lemmy.cafe 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The best time to eat Musk was yesterday

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

The second best time is today!

[–] thecommonistagenda@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

He’s such a fraud in everything he claims to be that he can’t even fucking play a video game for himself. No wonder he loves AI, he can’t do anything for himself

[–] Snapz@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago

If you were not happy at two million, you won't be happy at one trillion or ten trillion. Broken fucking nazi needs to stop paying confused women to have kids and go away. Get in your bunker and time lock the door for 40 years to "own da libz"

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My whole consolation on finding out he is or would be a trillionaire was basically "at least he'll still be miserable."

[–] hovercat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 day ago

It's honestly both the funniest and saddest thing is that he's only become shittier and more miserable as he's gotten richer. There's pretty much a direct correlation between the two.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Imagine having all that money and not doing anything good with it... Well I guess it goes without saying no one becomes a trillionaire without being a colossal PoS parasite.

Nothing of value will be lost when he finally dies. Still, I'd like to see him get jail time for helping steal the election. Federal jail.

[–] becausechemistry@piefed.social 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nobody earns a trillion (or even a billion) dollars. They take it from someone else.

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

There was a good talk about that but I don't have the link.

About how there is a finite amount of worth based on labour/resources in our closed earth system, so those that amassed that much wealth have 100% stolen it from everyone else.

And rebalancing that only occurred to a handful of billionaires. The rest dgaf.

Elon Musk has the personality, maturity, insecurity of a 13-year old kid with Asperger's / autism.

I relate.

I mean, I'm about 30 years removed from the experience of a 13-year-old sperger and I would probably be just as fucking cringe as this worthless dildo if I never figured out how to grow the fuck up. If I had to trade places with Elon, and take on all of his personal baggage and lose all of my life's wisdom in the process... Hard no. Nope, not for a trillion.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah, I feel weird about this, but (I think) I perfectly empathize with his feelings. His behavior on the other hand, feels like something I would do in a nightmare, like my brain is trying to conjure up the worst possible thing to do in any given situation like a weird call of the void intrusive thought.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 19 hours ago

Well said. I can 100% understand his desperation for acceptance and delusions. He's a lot of people if they had a trillion dollars and no grounding.

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago

To me the point of Data, the character from Star Trek is that they spend all this time debating and philosophizing over whether Data can love because he is an artificial consciousness and yet none of it matters because Data is the most loving character in the series regardless, to which my point is that not everyone grows up understanding how to interact with other humans well or finds it intuitive, but that is a separate question than love, which Elon possesses none of.

Social media influencer Tiffany Fong, for instance, noticed that Musk “started liking and replying to her posts,” driving engagement and revenue to her account, and then “sent her a direct message asking if she was interested in having his child,” even though they had never met in person. Fong declined, and when Musk found out that she had told others about his offer, he chastised her and unfollowed her, leading her new earnings to evaporate.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I followed Tiffany Fong during the SBF trial. I think she was leaning sorta right-wing-ish so I decided to tap out.

Really creepy Musk behaviour though. Shows you how weird and sad these guys are.

[–] terranoid@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dude pays people to play his video games and pays other people to inseminate women with his sperm

lol he lives life like it's just a series of high scores. Most money, most children, most literal video game high scores.

Someone should link him to "highest altitude ever jumped for suicide" or "largest caliber used in suicide"

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah it's very "quantitative" rather than "qualitative" ... a lot of his children want nothing to do with him yet he probably thinks just the sheer number of his "genes" going out there is a good thing.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 19 hours ago

If he knew about the Russian royal family, he would be taking a different strategy right now.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

X-> ASCII 88->literally a Nazi symbol->a literal Nazi->Musk

Is he really that banal..? (rhetorical question)

[–] vincentpants@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago
