I just want you to know that that's not typical

[–] ivanvector@piefed.ca 4 points 14 hours ago

Most are designed so that the wheels don't fall off at all

[–] PodPerson@lemmy.zip 14 points 19 hours ago

That's not supposed to happen.

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 39 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

causing the wheel to fall off, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

I agree with that assessment.

Just tell your passengers to shift their mass to the area of the vehicle in the triangle formed by the remaining three wheels.

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 10 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

That's a great idea that'll absolutely save the day!

[–] tal@lemmy.today 8 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

You can see that the occupant in that one is clearly outside the triangle formed by the three wheels.

shakes head sadly

"I tried to remain inside the triangle, sir. Gravity, however, pulled me towards the door until I was firmly pressed against it."

Now, I’m no expert, but, that’s like the #1 thing a vehicle shouldn’t do. That and randomly exploding. I’m I wrong here? Is really Tesla 0/2 on the most basic things vehicles shouldn’t do?

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 43 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

The doors should open. Even when the vehicle is off or has no power.

[–] Makeitstop@lemmy.world 32 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Especially when it's off or has no power.

But what if it's on fire? It's okay for them to not work if it's on fire right? Asking for a billionaire...

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 14 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

If it's on fire. The vehicle should go into lock down and seal itself shut to starve the fire if oxygen. Duh!

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 5 points 17 hours ago

Especially battery electric cars that burn without oxygen should do that to contain the fumes which otherwise would endanger people nearby.

[–] mikenurre@lemmy.world 16 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

The panels shouldn't fall off. Probably shouldn't be glued on, but definitely shouldn't fall off. 0/3

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

There's nothing wrong with glue. Every windshield you see is glued in, most hoods are glued together, every exterior trim on most modern cars is glue. every manufacturer uses probably 80 pounds of adhesives in a car.

Glue is great. When it's done right.

That's just a feature to convert it into a stationary garbage dumpster instead of a mobile one.

Remember, never litter when there's a cyber truck with its windows open within walking distance.

How many waves of recalls has it been now? I swear we're on like #15 at this point

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 3 points 17 hours ago

Now I’m wondering if recalls were planned obsolescence to sell the next gen?

[–] skip0110@lemmy.zip 4 points 15 hours ago

Whompy wheels!

[–] csolisr@hub.azkware.net 9 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

You had one job and yadda yadda

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

You only gave two yadda's. You're missing a yadda. Did the third yadda fall off? Wait, are you buying teslas yadda yadda yadda? Because those got recalled for falling off....

[–] csolisr@hub.azkware.net 4 points 17 hours ago

Do I look like the person who can afford a third yadda? Heck I had to go in the red for the second one

Article is from a month ago

Tesla has recalled a total of 173 Cybertruck models from the 2024-2026

  1. 2 years to sell 173 trucks.
[–] FishFace@piefed.social 10 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

That's not what that means

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 5 points 19 hours ago

When this story came out last month that is what was being reported, the 173 was all of the RWD cybertrucks sold.

However it only effects certain build dates:

Some reports have suggested that the recall number of 173 reveals a staggeringly low number of RWD Cybertrucks made, but Tucker says this isn't the case. The recall applies to trucks built on certain dates using a specific shipment of lug nuts and grease, and cars with 18-inch wheels produced on certain dates. He says it's a “subset of a subset” of Cybertrucks.
