Me: Uninstall

If the game I'm playing isn't worth paying $2 for, it's probably not worth playing

Rethink DNS is also great it lets you vpn, firewall, filter, dbs at sane time

Or for something simpler, NetGuard lets you disable network access for specific apps

Yeah. It's open source and everything.

I use TrackerControl for this :-)

[–] qualia@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

chuckles in GrapheneOS

[–] DarkSirrush@piefed.ca 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Pihole+VPN+GrapheneOS so i can just turn off network permissions on an app like that.

I also basically gave up on mobile games years ago, they are all shit cashgrabs.

Total War Battles Kingdom was my last straw.

Adguard DNS: 94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15

There are so many websites for mobile games that I don’t install apps anymore. Most of them soak up data they don’t need, and nuts to that. Games in a browser work fine and you can very easily block ads regardless of OS.

That sounds cool! Do you have any recommendations?

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

I usually use one of these, but there are a lot of others out there as well that are equally good because there are just so so so many games out there.

The first one worked very poorly for me

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 1 points 13 hours ago

Wow that’s awesome will share with my kid thank you

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 4 points 14 hours ago

For me, I do the opposite. If I'm seeing an ad, it's because I'm not using my PiHole, so for whatever reason, I'm not on my WiFi network.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

Adguard to the rescue! No ads for me.

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 5 points 18 hours ago

That works for some games. Others will stop functioning, even if not multi-player games. I mostly avoid mobile games, but sometimes it's either that or nothing.

Cached ads still play dummy

[–] gegil@sopuli.xyz 2 points 17 hours ago

Its funny how the only games that i play on my phone are a mobile ports of pc games, especially because i cant install any mobile game by not having a google account.

[–] NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com 1 points 17 hours ago

I’ve done this for some games on iPhone. Go in and disable Cellular access and then turn off WiFi when at home. Viola…game doesn’t play obnoxious ads.

Though some games like Scrabble made by EA won’t work offline which is dumb af and I just won’t play those at all.
