I love how they blame the dog and not the f*ckwad that left a loaded shotgun in the back seat with the safety off.

I just went digging to find quotes from that episode for my husband. Thank you for this lol

Fucking seriously. Guns have safeties for a reason.

People in this thread are saying guns are the problem. It's fucking idiots with guns who are the problem.

[–] Akasazh@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The safety is not selling guns to anyone. That way you are sure there are no untrained idiots with guns.

Also no other idiots with guns.

Turns out a lot less damage is done to society if people can't buy guns.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah ... but looking at my current government, I really don't want the government to be the only ones who have guns.

[–] WaxRhetorical@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You guys use this argument constantly, but keep accepting a more and more absurd status quo. Will there ever be an "enough is enough" moment? It's looking unlikely from across the pond

[–] Magnum@infosec.pub 2 points 1 week ago

Noone of them is going to use a gun against the government ...

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

It’s fucking idiots ~~with guns~~ who are the problem.

As is often the case.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

Human beings probably shouldn't have weapons in the first place. Most murders are from people who fail to control their emotions and murder someone because of those emotions. Not many are planned murders.

[–] DokPsy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

It can be more than one thing. Both of those can be true

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It’s fucking idiots with guns who are the problem.

That Venn diagram is just one circle.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You think there's no such thing as a smart person who has a gun?

You think there's no such thing as an idiot who doesn't have a gun?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 week ago

My observations of gun owners is one thing in common: paranoid and scared.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 week ago

you got it half right, why was the gun loaded?

[–] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That's a big assumption. Maybe it was a crossbolt safety stored in accessible way. Still dumb, definitely unsafe, bit maybe not quite the unsafety we imagine.

[–] Meat_Of_Nan@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'm not gonna say I'm a gun expert, but I don't see why you need a loaded shotgun in the back of the car to begin with. Like isn't only having your gun loaded when you're ready to use it a pretty common gun safety thing? Even if the safety was on and the dog accidentally turned it off, or the safety was faulty, I feel like there was no reason for it to be loaded and somewhere in the back seat a dog could walk over it or however it happened.

[–] treesapx@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

What in the fresh dumbassery is this comment? If your dog is shooting your shotgun then you have ROYALLY fucked up. Not kinda fucked up. Not "I dunno guys the situation might be different than we understand."

If your dog shoots me, you have thrown away all avenues of diplomacy. The time for words has ended. WAR. You just declared war.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

he found out she's the one who shot his paw

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 16 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Like a country song written after too many drinks, "My dog shot my wife and my truck left me."

[–] zabadoh@ani.social 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

$2.94/gallon for unleaded gas? That must be an archive photo.

[–] q181c@sopuli.xyz 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Guns don't kill people! ~~People~~ dogs with guns kill people!

(The problem might be guns lol)

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nonsense, if a good dog had a gun, it could have stopped the bad dog with a gun before they did any harm!

[–] DokPsy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

False. There are no bad dogs only good dogs that do bad things

[–] Murse@slrpnk.net 9 points 2 weeks ago

It is illegal in Nebraska to drive with a loaded shotgun in your vehicle.

Literally 1984

[–] kibblebits@quokk.au 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

striking a female passerby.

Thank the Christian god it wasn’t a male passerby. There might have been a lawsuit! That respectable gun owner might have lost his freedom stick.

[–] PlasticExistence@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He’s likely to lose it after this. It’s illegal to keep a loaded shotgun in a car in his jurisdiction

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

~~She~~

Edit: never mind, misread another article.

If there were any discrimination in that sentence, it's supposed to evoke more outrage than if a man died, not less. But more likely it's just reporting what limited facts they have and are allowed to print.
