I love how they blame the dog and not the f*ckwad that left a loaded shotgun in the back seat with the safety off.

Fucking seriously. Guns have safeties for a reason.
People in this thread are saying guns are the problem. It's fucking idiots with guns who are the problem.
The safety is not selling guns to anyone. That way you are sure there are no untrained idiots with guns.
Also no other idiots with guns.
Turns out a lot less damage is done to society if people can't buy guns.

You guys use this argument constantly, but keep accepting a more and more absurd status quo. Will there ever be an "enough is enough" moment? It's looking unlikely from across the pond

Human beings probably shouldn't have weapons in the first place. Most murders are from people who fail to control their emotions and murder someone because of those emotions. Not many are planned murders.

My observations of gun owners is one thing in common: paranoid and scared.

That's a big assumption. Maybe it was a crossbolt safety stored in accessible way. Still dumb, definitely unsafe, bit maybe not quite the unsafety we imagine.
I'm not gonna say I'm a gun expert, but I don't see why you need a loaded shotgun in the back of the car to begin with. Like isn't only having your gun loaded when you're ready to use it a pretty common gun safety thing? Even if the safety was on and the dog accidentally turned it off, or the safety was faulty, I feel like there was no reason for it to be loaded and somewhere in the back seat a dog could walk over it or however it happened.
What in the fresh dumbassery is this comment? If your dog is shooting your shotgun then you have ROYALLY fucked up. Not kinda fucked up. Not "I dunno guys the situation might be different than we understand."
If your dog shoots me, you have thrown away all avenues of diplomacy. The time for words has ended. WAR. You just declared war.
