"YOU and your classmates will be responsible for paying down the national debt"

JFC. Have you seen how much your president has jacked it up lately?

[–] Davin@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

Same Kind of shit my mom said, before blaming Democrats for their spending. Now Dems are not wholly innocent, but for the last like 80 years, it's been the GoP that's been increasing the national debt, and it's not because they're expanding spending on safety nets and education

[–] grue@lemmy.world 21 points 9 hours ago

Headline is inaccurate. It should read "GOP rep humiliates herself"

[–] dizzle18@lemmy.zip 9 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Hopefully this kid realizes that he has his entire life ahead of him, while this sentient lump of moldy cheese is almost fucking dead.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

She's got maybe another 10 years to fuck shit up and he has about 80 years to unfuck it.

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Her initial point isn't wrong pre se... “Your request that ‘the federal government should give a $5,000 tax rebate for all new electric car purchases’ means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people who may not have the means to buy an electric vehicle in the first place,” Foxx wrote.

But it could be used to argue against a lot more subsidies that go to an even smaller % of the population who have significantly more means than the average elctric car buyer.

Also, the propaganda she should be refering to is that they teach kids in schools that politicians and such should be respected. That is some serious indoctrination.

means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people

reminds me of the 30 billion dollars given to fossil-fuel firms in direct subsidies.

Boomers are, without a doubt, the greediest, most shameless generation. Once they're finally too old to hang on to power, we'll still have to deal with them clogging up hospitals.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 9 points 8 hours ago

She has that boomer mentality, so I know what you mean. But she was born in 1943, so she's technically not a boomer. She's in the silent generation. That makes it even worse!

Eighty-fucking-two years old and writing nasty letters to little kids who bring up very reasonable requests! The old ghoul should be sitting in front of a TV watching soap operas and playing mahjong or whatever, not shuffling around in Congress 'representing' people.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 17 points 10 hours ago

They will hold on to their power while still in the hospital. Hell i wouldn't be surprised if one in a coma had an aide "reading their mind" and still pushing an agenda.

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

No, that's when we let the for profit medicine machine they've built devour them

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

That was built by Nixon and pals.

I know it's fashionable to lump an entire generation as "boomer bad", but oddly enough, that seems to be the demographic actually coming out and protesting...

[–] sbbq@lemmy.zip 29 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

We simply can't afford electric vehicle subsidies! They'd be taking money from that pockets of hard working Americans! But we sure can afford billions in weapons to kill Iranian school children for no fucking reason!

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

Omg you weren't exaggerating:

“Your request that ‘the federal government should give a $5,000 tax rebate for all new electric car purchases’ means that the federal government must take that money out of the pockets of hardworking people who may not have the means to buy an electric vehicle in the first place,” Foxx wrote. “YOU and your classmates will be responsible for paying down the national debt,” she added pointedly, arguing that climate change wasn’t as pressing as the ballooning of the national debt.

Maybe, just maybe, he's considered this and he's willing to do that so, you know, there will be a future to pay the debt into?!

She offered him links to learn more about climate change from Fox News, National Review, The Washington Times, and the Wall Street Journal editorial board.

You know...gotta be love the brand of the GOP. Absolutely no science journals.

“‘Incidentally, please ask your teacher to explain propaganda to you,” Foxx wrote.

You know what....nevermind. No notes.

[–] runiq@feddit.org 8 points 10 hours ago

If she doesn't trust his teacher, why would she then trust his teacher with explaining the concept of propaganda to him? smh

[–] Skankhunt420@sh.itjust.works 4 points 7 hours ago

I'm sure this will make the kid very level headed and interested in getting involved with society.

Good job.

[–] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 51 points 13 hours ago

Imagine being such a massive turd that you feel compelled to admonish a 10-year-old kid who wrote a homework assignment about electric cars because he thinks they're neat and would like more people to be able to afford them. It's not even much of a unique incident. This is just how the republican politicians conduct themselves now.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago

The mother was inadvertently teaching her kid an important lesson: never believe you can ever influence a politician, especially a GOP politician. They're not here for us. :/

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

This woman looks like a corpse, and her attitude here shows she is unfit for office.

Exactly whom is she meant to represent?

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 8 hours ago

hardworking

I love it when even boomers can't hyphenate.

[–] nosuchanon@lemmy.world 17 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

How old is she? Grandma needs to retire and keep her bullshit beliefs to herself.

Also, WHO DO YOU THINK RAISED THE DEFICIT AND NATIONAL DEBT FOR DECADES!?!

And now she’s telling the next generation to pay for her bullshit. The nerve.

[–] JakoJakoJako13@piefed.social 2 points 8 hours ago
  1. Old enough to be able to say she lived through the bombs dripping in WW2. Older than the Orange Pedofascist. Old enough to prove why age limits need to be a thing. Bitch is expired milk that turned to cheese and separated causing the jug to explode from the gasses.
[–] sepi@piefed.social 6 points 9 hours ago

Stupid bitch

[–] treehugger6@lemmy.world 20 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

You can see hate on her face. Hate makes you ugly.

[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

How are us ugly people supposed to respond to this!

[–] Captain_Buddha@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Ugliness takes unto account what's on the inside as well... This also detracts from ugliness, if you are beautiful within.

...either way, I'm still S.O.L. BUT you might be beautiful, internet stranger!

[–] Brummbaer@pawb.social 1 points 7 hours ago

Now I wonder if the US was always a gerontocracy.

[–] U7826391786239@piefed.zip 8 points 13 hours ago
