Need to complain. I tried to call my doctor's office and it was impossible to speak to a person. The AI kept telling me over and over that they care about my pronouns. I don't care about my pronouns, I just wanted to speak to a person. It's Seattle idk what I expected

Behind every decision to replace staff with yet another LLM is endless frustration for customers and clients.

I had an urgent leak to deal with earlier this week, and when I called my rental agency they told me they couldn't do anything until I'd logged it in their online system. I logged it in detail with photos, then it took me to an LLM. When I told the LLM I wasn't interested in further chatter and just needed a plumber sent over ASAP, I got a text saying my request wouldn't be dealt with because I "did not complete the conversation with [their] agent." All the while my light bulbs were dripping... I felt like I was taking crazy pills.

Omg if I were you I'd be talking everyone's ear off about this, that's wild

We're sorry you had a bad experience. Your satisfaction (and pronouns) are very important for us. What would it take for you to remove this bad review from the Internet? Sincerely, your support team.

Omg you just raised my blood pressure

Fuck em, the place can rot.

Would be a good approach if it were a cafe or something but it's the doctor and I kinda need em lol

There needs to be a community, "AI is fucking stupid"

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 17 hours ago

yeah at their core they are an abstraction of search and it can't give you a link???

Ty. We need to build up these communities so there's some actual discussion going on. I just joined this site and we need to pump it up imo, when communities barely have posts it's hard to get anything going

My relative's doctors kept calling to confirm his upcoming appointment, after he died...in the same hospital.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sounds like that would fit really well in the Fuck AI community.

Ah ty will check it out

My friend texted me saying she was stuck on a train for an hour and asked ChatGPT if she should get off the train. Idk how to respond to that. I have the screenshots, could post em if anyone would want to see, but how on earth do you abdicate you whole brain like that

Pro strat I use is to begin to stay coherent stuff like I need the. Start stating random words. Like I need potato ostrich. Talk to car house. Ect. After a few times the ai slop gives up and connects you to a person.

Edit.. cellphone autocorrect

Makes me think how human speech would change overtime both by trying to counteract AI learning from us by using garbled speech. And optimised to try and squeeze out what we want from it the quickest.

I tried to get a person by saying PERSON REPRESENTATIVE and then all the curse words because in the past that made them get you a person sooner but nah. I'm sure I sounded insane and if the recording ever comes out I'll have a really hard time arguing that I'm not actually homicidal. Oops

[–] Freddyyeddy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Reminds me of that guy on twitch made a tts robot and through the process began to make an algorithm to remove slurs or curse words. Can't remember the video but he did a devlog on YouTube about it. It's hilarious.

Love that but I don't think it works anymore. It definitely used to and I'd say the goofiest things

[–] its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did you try giving it your pronouns?

[–] YawningNostalgia@thelemmy.club 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I gave it pronouns that haven't been invented yet

Garbage in garbage out maybe?

I was laminating a leaflet for the government department I work for the other day, and it had very carefully noted the pronouns for the department. That just seems silly to me.

[–] TheMuffinMan@piefed.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Assuming they were in brackets after people's names, why is that silly? It's just so you know how to address them.

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I think what they're saying is on leaflet, the department had pronouns listed, like "Department of Sanitation (they/them)"

[–] TheMuffinMan@piefed.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ah, that is indeed what they wrote but that interpretation didn't even cross my mind! That is hilariously bad lmao. Thanks

[–] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Funnily enough, I would refer to a department as "it" rather than "they" 😁

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

Agreed. Only they when speaking of specific people in the department.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

Yes. Like that. It just seemed redundant.

[–] NutinButNet@hilariouschaos.com 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Lmao this is the future we all dreamed of as kids. Talking to an AI who’s only concern is your preferred pronouns than actually helping you with what you need 😂

I told my friend about it and he reacted poorly because he thought I was being transphobic. I have absolutely no beef with people choosing what they want to be called.
My issue was that they were making accessing necessary healthcare more difficult and virtue signaling via recorded message by saying they care about our pronouns.
I would have thought my friend I've known for a year would know I was trying to make a more nuanced point about capitalism and enshittification and I wasn't saying that trans people should be disregarded. Actually quite painful to see that he saw me complaining and heard trans and went straight to bigotry.
