Yes, I preloaded my steam wallet yesterday so I could skip the card step. I happened to check the store page 2 minutes early and it was live so I sent it.

[–] Stampela@startrek.website 10 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Lucky you, I’m stuck trying to get past the “yes, use my wallet credit” screen :(

It was a good plan to preload it yesterday… but plans and reality. You know.

Edit: 31 minutes later, it went in! With a warning about shipping times due to high volume of orders, but it went in.

[–] azdle@news.idlestate.org 4 points 4 weeks ago

Gratz!

I had money in my wallet too and got the buy button about 1 minute early, but still got stuck in the "There seems to have been an error" loop until my order went through 32 minutes later.

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I did not know you could do this. I did save my credit card info yesterday, but would have done this if I knew how.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

It's the Add funds button in your steam wallet. You can add multiple of 5s

Had the same idea but I still can't order.

This was bullshit, had it in my cart the minute it became available but it was impossible to checkout on mobile. All my friends on pc bought theirs on easily

[–] azdle@news.idlestate.org 5 points 4 weeks ago

If it makes you feel better, I was on desktop (web) (and mobile and when I was getting desperate deck, lol) and my order didn't go through until xx:31. I think it really was just random.

[–] ericwdhs@discuss.online 4 points 4 weeks ago

I got mine in via Firefox on Android, but it definitely took some persistence.

Payment processor can't keep up with the demand.

[–] RiderExMachina@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 weeks ago

I think it’s funny just how popular this thing is. How may people do you think are trying to buy it vs scalp it? 90:10? 80:20?

Stuck on the payment screen myself. Scrolling Lenny and pressing “Pay Now” every minute or so.

This is how it was with the OG Steam Deck, too. Took me about 15 minutes of guard dogging to make sure I got one. That was a pretty stressful time, lol

[–] ericwdhs@discuss.online 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Preordering the Deck was definitely stressful knowing every little delay could push you weeks down the shipping queue. I think I also got my Deck order in right at about 15 minutes which put my shipment in one of the April waves. Is that about where yours was too?

[–] RiderExMachina@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

It’s been too long ago now, but that sounds right

There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.

[–] tiberius@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Too late to catch the Steam Deck rush but just in time for the Steam Controller one.

[–] RiderExMachina@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 weeks ago

Too late for the Steam Deck

Too early for Steam Machine 2

Just in time for Steam Controller 2

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 7 points 4 weeks ago

It’s 2026 and we still don’t have the technology to support server demand surges like this in a way that is appealing to implement.

When I first saw such things happen over 20 years ago, I figured it was always incompetence. Now I know it’s just reality.

[–] dom@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 weeks ago

I will be waiting but I wish all you real people who woll use it good luck. And dont buckle to the scalpers in a few weeks: these will come back in stock in due time.

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 6 points 4 weeks ago

Nope, it's dead Jim. It doesn't go past entering shipping details

[–] azdle@news.idlestate.org 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Eyy, finally managed to get one. Right before they went out of stock.

[–] ericwdhs@discuss.online 5 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

Congrats!

I'm wondering if the "ships in 3 to 5 business days" is valid for everyone who got an order in.

Nope. Italy here: we had 3-5 days at first, a while ago it changed to 6-10. Not sure if that will change again or if we'll go out of stock before that.

I was unlucky. Didn't remember the launch until it was too late. Not that it would have mattered since I was in lecture for college, but still would have been nice if I could have ordered one!

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 5 points 4 weeks ago

Mine just went through suddenly.

Store had been working fine for me, but the processing card step of the checkout has been broken for me.

Aaaaaaaand Europe is gone too.

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 4 points 4 weeks ago

Got my order in!

[–] PriorityMotif@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Still have my og steam controller 😎

In your library? Lol i wish

[–] zo0@programming.dev 6 points 4 weeks ago

I think you bought the steam controller nft by mistake

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (2 children)

Edit: Out of stock. Fuck my life!

Hitting the Continue like I hit that cunt in you.

No such luck.

Which region are you from? In Italy it's available (although the shipping time went from 3-5 days to 6-10).

Got on right at 1 and was hammering the pay button to no avail. They're now showing out of stock :(

[–] JohnWorks@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 weeks ago

I got one! Needed to spam the checkout buttons but it eventually went through.

[–] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Here's my confession: I will rarely use it and never sell it. It's my second true collector's item, much like the original. I'm perfectly happy with mouse and keyboard, I just want to own one for the sake of it.

In the US? Seems to be still in stock in Europe. But I still have a hard time ordering despite preloading my account with enough money.

It's apparently going in and out of stock in waves, so there's still hope

[–] ericwdhs@discuss.online 3 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Keep spamming Continue. It'll eventually switch to "Working." I must have hit it at least a hundred times from 9:59 PST to 10:10 before it worked for me. I wished they had opened purchasing right on the dot instead of a few minutes early, but oh well. I'm happy.

Edit: Out of Stock. Sorry everyone who didn't get one. :(

[–] yumyumsmuncher@feddit.uk 3 points 4 weeks ago
[–] SorteKanin@feddit.dk 3 points 4 weeks ago

I got one, just keep spamming continue, it will eventually go through!

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

"There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance."

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 3 points 4 weeks ago

Nope, just went out of stock :(

Super smooth checkout on the mobile app. 5 minutes before the hour

I hit continue about 200 times and it went through

[–] morgan_423@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

...And the site just updated to Out of Stock. Grats to those of you who managed to get a payment jammed through.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Well, anyone who managed to get one, lemme know how the d-pad is on it. Is it better than the OG Steam Deck D-pad or the OLED D-pad? I changed my OLED d-pad to mechanical buttons, and it's felt much more accurate for 2d platformers and fighters.

[–] zewm@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago

There are many YouTubers with reviews of this. They say the dpad still uses membrane but feels better than Steamdeck but still has a bit of cardinal slide.

[–] azdle@news.idlestate.org 2 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

I got one and will try to post to this community with my thoughts after I receive it.

The dpad is also my biggest worry with it.

What did you do to upgrade your deck dpad? I would love to do that to mine too if it works well and isn't too loud.
