We will worry about it the day after tomorrow.

USA today? No thanks.

Here are the two studies:

Observational constraints project a ~50% AMOC weakening by the end of this century: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.adx4298

Meridionally consistent decline in the observed western boundary contribution to the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.adz7738

Don’t look at me. I have nothing to do with AI.

Not world news, it's geoblocked for 470 million Europeans.

Yes I could read it with a VPN, but the source is not worth the trouble.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

I actually blocked usatoday's domain because of their bait and switch articles hidden behind pay walls.

fuck em, starve the bitches of clicks while the world burns.

Climate scientists have been warning about this for at least a decade. They're just not being heeded.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 5 points 10 hours ago

I remember watching a breakdown of this during Covid lockdowns and then having a full on come apart about it which folks shrugged off

[–] Casterial@lemmy.world 14 points 18 hours ago

We'll never be able to fix the climate issue while Trump and millions around the globe go "it was cold here hurhur! What global warming?!"

[–] rwdf@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

This might actually save our skiing conditions here in Norway after all, it looked dire for a while.

IDK if you are joking, but if this pump stops working, Norway is kind of fucked, and will become as hostile to live in as Siberia, and most harbors will become unusable most of the year, as the water will freeze around Norway.

[–] vodka@feddit.org 1 points 7 hours ago

I'll finally get the weather I live up here for. Sweet.

(it did snow today actually, quite pleasant)

[–] rwdf@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Joking, of course. It would be hell, indeed.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago

OK, that's good, but you can't say of course.

Trump doesn't believe in climate change, but he won't be able to escape it.

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 23 points 18 hours ago

He's 79, and by all accounts not in the best of health. He'll escape it.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 8 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, neither will we.

[–] panthera_@lemmy.today 1 points 9 hours ago

True, but if the nonbelievers start to believe, hopefully it will not be too late to do something.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 7 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

The working plan is that their wealth + AI will allow them to survive well enough, without having to deal with us pesky poors anymore.

It's not hard to imagine. Just imagine you had zero moral compass, and all the resources they do. What logically makes sense? No, not taking care of everyone. Bigger fence, not bigger table. And eventually the necessities of life, like not having a drone explode you, will only be availabile behind the fence.

[–] panthera_@lemmy.today 1 points 9 hours ago

Yes, but for politicians climate change will have a negative effect on the economy which will affect them being elected.

I can't access this with either Ironfox or Vanadium browsers.

Reads for me on fennec with javascript disabled over VPN

Blocking JavaScript gets you round most paywalls and geoblocking

[–] unitedwithme@lemmy.today 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Do you have a reading mode button at the top? I just enable reading mode (But in Waterfox) and it starts to function without paywalls or popups.

[–] hot_mocha_decaf@lemmy.cafe 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

No reader mode button is presented, unfortunately. I use a vpn, but I dont think Ive seen this type of page before from vpn blocking.

[–] TwoTiredMice@feddit.dk 3 points 17 hours ago

I work fine here, but only without VPN activated. With VPN on is does not work and I get the same warninf as you.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 5 points 19 hours ago

I don't put too much trust in usatoday to give me trustworthy news on climate topics.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 0 points 10 hours ago

Pffft. We're fucked anyway. I'd rather freeze instantly in a 'day after tomorrow' weather event than in a nuclear war.
