Holy shit they are so mad at basic facts, and none of them have any counter, just vitriol. That's abaurd, but you're right, effective agitprop creates enemies (and I'm flattered that you'd mention me alongside that).

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 22 points 3 days ago

Not just that, but the most cookie cutter insults lmao. No wonder they love LLM regurgitated slop, they're even less creative than that.

[–] bunnossin@hexbear.net 52 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't think they can be called space nerds if they call people "the least intelligent members of a community" for making a post comprised of literally nothing but objectively true information.

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 42 points 3 days ago

These people are not nerds. Nerds have passion for their favored subject. These people are instead actively hostile to knowing about milestones in space if they are not the achievements of their team. They are fans, comparable to medal counting nationalists who do not spare a single thought for any of the sports outside an olymic tally. That is why this meme is almost precision engineered to rile them up.

You are genuinely worse than Hitler

lenin-dont-laugh

[–] miz@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

hitler-detector according to this they don't think Hitler was that bad

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 19 points 3 days ago

Then the comment right below that just straight up makes the hitler-detector explode like a dbz scouter

ironically all of the hitler lovers got poached to work for NASA

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 40 points 3 days ago (6 children)

Tangentially related but I started watching the first ep of for all mankind and that shit is so funny. The USSR beats the US to the moon and these NASA freaks who are all white men get "mad as hell" then immediately jump into their corvettes and literally race to the bar so they can DUI, and throw beer bottles against the newspaper headline inside the bar where theres only one server who now has to clean that shit up, and we as the audience are meant to sympathize with them I guess? And the announcers on TV are all grim and shit, and everyone is watching the "red moon" landing in terror

Its just so amazingly burger brained. I fucking wish.

I hope China beats Artemis to the moon now so CNSA can congratulate the US on second place

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And then the USSR lands a woman on the moon and shit gets really funny.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 14 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

So I should keep watching it then

Edit: okay just read a reddit thread full of redditurds crying about how woke it is so yes I will watch it. Better than this gambo rewatch I'm doing instead

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago

I think season 1 had a relatively sympathetic (for lib brained TV) take on the Soviets. And season 2 doesn't play them as complete monsters. However it's brain worms all the way from season 3 onwards.

So none of them can even say that you're wrong, let alone why (as if there's actually a reason), but plenty of them can come up with bizarre death threats and neo-slurs.

Not surprised. I think of that graphic periodically and see it every now and then in other places too. Excellent work. Class A posting hero-of-socialist-labor

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 35 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

When I had the free time to post pinned comments on reddit I got absolutely bombarded with literally hundreds and hundreds of liberals, they would "brigade" the thread, they would post on all their lib subs like subredditdrama to bring in more of them, they would piss and shit and moan. Every single time.

All they achieved was creating massively more for me to respond to, convincing even more people in the comments.

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 26 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Used to pin comments on subreddits I moderated and use the space for communist propaganda. Each day it's fairly easy to work out which post is going to become the next front page post, and pinning a comment to that post at an early time would secure it hits the maximum number of eyes as it reaches /r/all and frontpages on reddit.

So what I would do was pin a comment in whatever the thread was that would obviously blow up, usually I'd keep it relevant to the post but if not I would do the most ridiculous segue possible into whatever the latest bit of information was that I'd learn or personally enjoyed and spread it to others. Basically my thinking was "if I got something out of this information, others will too".

Example of one such ridiculous segue: https://old.reddit.com/r/TheRightCantMeme/comments/n654ki/capitalism_sounds_a_lot_like_socialism_apparently/

Finding old posts by me now is actually kinda hard unfortunately so I can't dig up a whole lot, but I did it daily for months and months. There's a lot of content in /r/subredditdrama that specifically names me and a whole bunch of liberals that would definitely remember my old account names. There were some posts with thousands of "brigade" libs back then.

The trick was to understand the line between what you could say to be likeable in the reddit crowd vs what you couldn't say, and also to make sure to remove as many libs as possible from the space to reduce resistance but not completely eliminate it, some resistance is good, resistance gives you something to post more propaganda responses to.

If I had the time to do it today I would probably be doing relentless China education, the time is ripe to make people pro-China whereas back when I was doing this in the past you couldn't even mention China without risking people switching off to what you were saying because of how touchy the subject was.

Why are many of the comments "You could [hurt me to death some way] and I would not [say this someway]"?

Seems like you got botted or hit by a group with a script.

[–] bunnossin@hexbear.net 30 points 3 days ago

It's the latest epic burn format, and no twitter user has the brainpower to think of a unique joke

Out of all the memes for them to get mad at, lmao

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 24 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Oh, you think the Soviet space program was egalitarian? A guy was rude to a lady once! Not like NASA, which only sent a woman to space way after that! smuglord

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 22 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Some gross shit that invades my brain again whenever people bring up sexism in the US during the space race:

Wernher von Braun, asked about female astronauts in the sixties, had joked that the men in charge were “reserving 110 pounds of payload for recreational equipment.”

https://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2015/05/19/a-brief-history-of-spacefarers/

Wonder what that guy’s deal was?

[von Braun] became a member of the Nazi Party and then the Allgemeine SS to support his rocket work. He led the development of rocket technology in Nazi Germany, and later of rocket and space technology in the US.

Oh.

[–] bunnossin@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

[von Braun] became a member of the Nazi Party and then the Allgemeine SS to support his rocket work.

Don't worry guys, it was just to support his rocket work. Really, he was just a smol innocent researcher

If you think the USSR was so egalitarian, explain to me why only the USA has killed both men and women with cost cutting measures in a rushed shuttle program smuglord

They're so full of impotent rage, can't even manage an original insult or articulate anything beyond 'commie bad'

excellent work 🫡

[–] RondoRevolution@hexbear.net 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lol, they can't even cope with the most basic propaganda being dismantled in their face.

I have seen that image countless times and even have it saved somewhere in my phone, it's cool knowing you're the one that made it.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 14 points 3 days ago

it's one of a handful of support pillars for their western chauvinism and the cognitive dissonance is deeply uncomfortable

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 32 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Big fan of the person accusing you of being CIA. I gotta look into those brainworms

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 27 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not even "Russian" or "Chinese bot". Very strange logic.

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

There's equal chances the poster is a hardcore bluedog or MAGA, but they are definitely one of the two

[–] thefunkycomitatus@hexbear.net 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

There's a certain type of libertarian who thinks the CIA is communist because it's the ultimate state organization, and it attacks right wing groups.

Everyone calling you names, yet nobody was able to formulate just one counter argument. Not even a fallacious one, they just gave up on arguing. How telling of a community of science enthusiasts

[–] krolden@lemmy.ml 18 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Twitter is basically a more polished /pol/ at this point

I don't understand why anyone remotely serious is still on it

[–] red_giant@hexbear.net 27 points 3 days ago

Going to the moon was so important. A far more impressive feat of science than any probe or rover.

That’s why we stopped sending humans to the moon and kept sending probes and rovers everywhere.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 17 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Meh. I've always been critical of this post because it's extremely cherrypicked. But then again I've never really been motivated to argue about it because death to america of course. But to build off the observations of others here... how can these 'space nerds' be upset about this and at the same time not go look at the first google result to have an effective argument?

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Yeah, is cherry picked, but a lot of the early USA stuff on that list is like "first geostationary satellite" which isn't really the same level as "first satellite". USSR got the first living being in space, but the USA got the first chimpanzee in space? Fair but also not really the same milestone.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago (7 children)

Getting a satellite back is on the same level as getting a satellite out. There were a lot of firsts to go around. The first rendezvous and docking are as important as reaching space and orbit, to kerbal space program at least. The first planetary flyby...

My take on the space race is that the US unilaterally decided there was one and what the goal would be. If you just put the accomplishments next to each other it's just good stuff.

Oh no, they found you. You're doomed. No way you'll escape the wrath of these...redditors? now!

But this is some of the funniest impotent rage I think I've seen. Well done. People literally wanting you dead because you made a silly infographic. And as everyone else has said, no counterarguments, just impotent manbaby rage.
