Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Funfact most diet sodas are 99% water and recent research into tea, coffee, soda and other drinks found that even drinks that are only 80% water have the same hydration effect as an equal amount of tap water with an error margin of less then 2%

Basically this means as long as your drink FUCKING ANYTHING your getting hydrated. The problem with drinks that arnt water isn't the hydration. It's the over consumption of calories or caffine in basically every single possiable case. Preventing you from drinking as much as you need.

The heavier drinks such as coke with corn syrup is rough on you, while you basically can just drink diet sprite non stop forever and literally not give a single fuck.

Same with coffee, it's pretty rough but a caffeine free tea? Yeah have as much as you want. You can basically just straight replace water with it if you wanted.

Basically if it has artificial sweetener, no caffeine or very low caffeine. You can basically replace water with it since it's literally just 99% water.

A drink has to have almost as low as 60% water for a mild dilutic like caffeine do actually make you not gain hydration from the drink.

Frankly, stop eating all the goddamn salty frozen foods and snacks and candy, and the amount of soda, coffee, tea you're drinking is probably actually Overkill for the amount of water you need.

The whole hydro homie nonsense is completely off base and honestly more harmful than good. You should be eating more fruits, eating more vegetables, and stop giving an absolute f*** about what you're drinking cuz it doesn't actually matter. And stop giving an absolute f*** about what you're drinking cuz it doesn't actually matter

Eat your f****** vegetables people.

My dishes ARE in the dishwasher, thank you very much!

The fact they’ve been clean and sitting there for a day and a half is irrelevant.

[–] blarg_dunsen@sh.itjust.works 1 points 13 hours ago

Buy a second dishwasher, and make two signs saying "Dirty" and "Clean" that you rotate between them. You're welcome.

My monster contains water right. Right? :3

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It does, but it requires water to digest so you must drink water to enjoy your monster to the fullest potential. Water is used in lubrication after all and without it you wouldn't have your monster fucking license would you?

[–] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 1 points 14 hours ago

That's not true. Like at all, and has been proven to be wrong repeatedly for the last like 15 years.

A drink has to be only 60% water by volume to actually require additional water to prevent loss. When you factor in things like caffeine.

Any of the artifical sweetener monsters are around 96% water by volume. The sugar based ones are around 80% still a long fucking way off.

The problem with any energy drink tho is the caffeine content. You can't drink enough monsters in a reasonable time frame to get all your water intake requirements with out also getting really fucking close to a caffeine over dose.

The fucking myth that you need water to digest sodas, energy drinks and coffee etc needs to fucking die. Frankly like 99% of the hydrohomie bullshit is just that. Bullshit. It's universally based on pseudoscience.

People can drink what ever the fuck they want. They just need to drink more, and watch their God damn calorie and caffeine intake.

A bigger problem is the fact people don't eat enough vegetables and fruit. Which is also a large part of where your water intake should be coming from.

Literally people drink more of their water in take then they likely should because they arnt eating enough God damn vegetables.

EAT YOUR GOD DAMN VEGGIES

On a side note, are other trans people ok with the terms AMAB and AFAB. I was talking to a trans friend, and used those terms when talking about some old friends when we all lived in gendered dorms (not specifically for just trans), and after we were done talking she mentioned after (as an aside) that a lot of trans people dont like those terms because they are sometimes used by exclusionary type bigots. I am agender and dont really care about what pronouns are used for me (as long as no assumption is made about me based on a stereotypic gender role). I just want to be more conscious.

I'm fine with them when specifically discussing past experiences with gender, but if it isn't relevant I won't bring it up. Similarly, I don't even bother specifying if someone is a trans woman or man unless them being trans matters to the discussion.

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I find it agreeable to use them when discussing biological differences, but I wouldn’t mention randomly that someone was AXAB unless it’s necessitated by the conversation

[–] Gladaed@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

Woman is also an acceptable term, but woman programmer is not.

It's about context and intent. Mentioning the irrelevant is discriminating upon it.

[–] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 7 points 2 days ago

You wouldn't believe it, but even the cis have this problem!

!hydrohomies@lemmy.world moment

[–] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 0 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

God I hate hydrohomies it's so full of fucking misinformation and bad health advice. All hidden behind a feel good vibe that makes people trust it. Like dear fucking God fuck the hydrohomies.

Bunch of pesudoscience bullshit.

Like yes drink water, but you can drink basically fucking anything and get all the water you need.

YOU NEED TO BE EATING MORE VEGGIES AND FRUIT. MOSTLY THE VEGGIES.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 1 points 9 hours ago

You sound like a hydrophobe:

If you take anything they say seriously, I see were your frustration comes from. It's just a meme page. They take a good advice (drink a glass of water from time to time) and take it to an extreme. It's not serious.
